WHAT WE TOOK FOR GRANTED

Before we went to India, God loved us.

Before we said “yes”, the same.

Before we were saved His stamp was on us.

Before birth, he knew my name!

.

.

Before I cursed Him, He knew about it!

When I took His Name in vain.

But He bore me up when my legs failed me,

Carried me when I went lame.

.

.

Too independent I recognized Him not,

Thought God was my will, thought I knew

That I could live, thrive, without His care,

Never knew what I would go through.

.

.

Perpendicular the cliff that I clung to,

God got me down, protected me,

Bullets whizzing by, shell fragments missing,

Protection clear, I could not see.

.

.

But now, in retrospect, I see all clearly

His Hand so gently leading on!

I long now to thank Him and to worship!

Stay at His feet through heaven’s song.

.

.

No need to wait till then, I now bow humbly

And worship at His mercy seat!

And when I do, I now can see them clearly,

In worship, nail scars in His feet!

.

.

I saw His Hands, they too bore the nail scars.

I felt Him place them on my head!

“I could never let you go,” He said.  “I promised

Because of you, my blood was shed.”

MY LIFE MY LOVE

You brought me out of a killing zone

When I deserved to die.

From the pit of hell You rescued me

I cannot help wondering why.

.

.

But when you said, Your love was true,

I think you meant it well.

For out of hells swirling, moaning throng

You brought me up to dwell!

.

.

To dwell on a higher living plane,

Now free from sordid sins.

Yet, pride is sinful and dwelling there

The light of life bedims.

.

.

So now I am still sinful and knowing this

I cringe until I see

That what I owe to God is myself,

My living destiny! (*)

.

.

Worship means thanks from the undeserving

A thanks that will not be stilled,

From delivered to the deliverer!

From the filler to the filled!

.

.

Now, that is worship!

IN HIS HOME

God wants to be your dwelling place,

Not a topic to discuss,

Your Good Shepherd to protect you

Or would you rather fuss?

.

.

About His many attributes

Not knowing Him as King,

While tearing Trinity apart

To treat it as a thing.

.

.

He prepares a feast for you,

A banquet in His name,

A contributory factor to

Worship and acclaim.

.

.

Not a topic for discussion

To wit; a seminar

Where everything is brought to show

His blessings from afar. (*)

.

.

You may draw closer to Him, like,

Abiding in His home.

As “He leads you in green pastures”

You will “Never walk alone.”

.

.

You are here in His presence

Now “Led in righteousness,”

I am “Led beside still waters…”

And I will settle for no less!

.

.

(*) As in conflict with close to Him, some folk cannot stand that.

OUR ETERNAL GOD

Simplicity at its very best depicting the greatest act!

“In the beginning God created…”  We accept the greatest fact!

Not a tribute to the Godhead, He needs none, what He has done

Confirms the word, creation!  Magnificence begun!

.

.

Everything from nothing!  Naming everything we see

And what we cannot see, created and/or brought about to be!

In its cycle of fulfillment, winter, spring, summer, fall,

Wind, snow, rain, and sunshine, yes!  My God!  He did it all!

.

.

What we see and what we cannot see we still know what He did!

What better way to start your day than to bow down and to give

A pledge of allegiance to your God, made you from dust!

Acknowledge it, bow down in praise and worship!  It is a must!

.

.

At least we can own up to, recognize all that He has done!

Even heathen see and worship the power of the sun!

Yes, worship it, but everywhere we look cannot careless!

If I were God, I would give us up!  I am sorry!  I am a mess!

.

.

If I were God how can I judge?  I am nothing I contend.

Oblivion all I can see the only place to send

The conscious, the oblivious to all that God has done!

The heathen of our country do not know God’s only Son! (*)

.

He was born to die to save us then to live eternally!

With Him!  In heaven forever!  Why then cannot we see?

Silly pride, sophistication?  Just cannot admit to sin?

So heaven’s door is open now, but they will not enter in!

.

.

(*) Closed minds refuse to know!

.

.

God alone only is eternal!  He always was!  Pre-existent!  Had no beginning!  He was and is the beginning, no end!  Mind boggling, is not it!  Cannot understand but believe!

PAIN AND …

I have been through intense suffering

Much more than the common pain.

Though it was more debilitating

Do not want to do that again!

.

.

Then another pain came over me

Vary hard to describe!

A feeling that so torturous

Hell fires may ascribe!

.

.

Without the fire, unquenchable,

A feeling, what can be said?

That pure peace and rest I would never attain,

That I will never more know sweet rest.

.

.

Rest from the memory of suffering

Rest from the pains of hell,

Rest from the feeling that never again

Would I sense that all is well!

.

.

But praise The Lord!  I have that rest now,

A night of sweet, dreamless sleep.

Not that it ended the pain within

But this assurance I will keep.

.

.

Assurance that God is always near!

That this is the basis for praise!

That He will see me safe at last

To be kept through endless days!

.

.

Thank you, Father!  You are good to me!

What would I do without You?

You know my frame, You see right through me!

Worship!  What more can I do!? (*)

.

.

(*) Not just and exclamation, an honest question!

“THE HEAVENS DECLARE…”

The heavens show, prove Gods glory,

No!  The heavens declare it!

The heavens bring it all about!

The heavens rage about it!

The heavens shout majestic flares

Incomparable, hard to contain

Flares of passion flowered throughout!

Now show me how it is maintained?

God declares, produces, maintains!

Of course, I cannot explain how!

This small planet centered within

There is no center, I bow.

I worship, adore, yes I humbly bow,

Just gaze at the sky, you too?

Now compare it to anything pure,

The majestic depths, the blue!

How at night so full of bright stars,

At daylight we cannot see

Countless more on that sunny side,

Just within our galaxy!

Surely tears must flow at the thought!

Surely the greatness of God!

Magnified beyond finite thought!

Cannot help bowing in awe!

Then bow but do!  Declare his might!

Shout it to that blue above!

Got to be mystified by it all! (*)

Declare it!  Shout it in love!

.

.

(*) Mystified, at least!

THE NOT SO POPULAR

So many folk I know but do not,

They come, they worship and pray.

Then quietly, head down, they leave

And there is nothing left to say.

.

.

I wonder, distressed?  Sad or lost?

A sadness they cannot hide.

Someone they knew loved and lost

No longer by their side?

.

.

Or feelings of inadequacy

Despondency or distressed.

Or are they seeking fellowship,

Feeling shy?  Or depressed?

.

.

Are we not encouragers (*)

Or maybe we do not care.

I turn attention to myself,

Do I know they are there?

.

.

Do I just seek the popular?

Some sorrowing I see.

Lord, help me to be to them what I

Would have them be to me!

.

.

(*) At least!
