HIS SHADOW

Whenever Jesus stretched His arms out

And shadow formed a cross.

Suppose He then considered that

One day He would suffer  loss?

.

.

And that day would mean salvation for

Every soul on earth?

Every soul believing, accepting

The Virgin birth.

.

.

Deity, The God incarnate, gift to

Sons of Adam all

Who would listen obeying Jesus’

Dying, Heavenly call!

.

.

Truly possible!  Jesus’ wisdom then

Amazed all the wise ones there

With knowledge well beyond His years,

Mere boy, but brilliant beyond compare.

.

.

Age 12 can we consider that

Dreaming, He spotted that hill?

A hill portending anything that

Could make His heart stand still?

.

.

With abject terror considering the possibility

Of one day suffering on that hill for sinners such as we!

Then later on a hill-top high, His heart cries out for all

Who did not love God, over all, who could hear the call?

.

.

To all sinners, “Come unto Me and I will give you rest!”

Many ways to travel through life.  My way is the best!

“True promise of Heaven, I give to all who follow Me;

I am making it possible, as I die on a cross tree!”

 .

.

“I will become sin.  I will take it all,

Since wages of sin is death.

You need not die, believe this truth,

A promise of heavenly breath!”

.

.

The breath of Heaven, this alone

Can avail, since Adam’s fall.

As we have come short way, short of God’s Glory,

Surely applying to all!

.

.

Delight!  Be glad, for what we see

Beyond this veil of tears

A land of promise!  That supersedes all

Conquering all our fears!

MY SIN

The price was paid so long ago,

Christ took the death for you!

Cruel death of the cross we contrived,

Just what else could He do?

.

.

Death for sins, all anticipated

Ever since man’s beginning,

In that fullness of times, deliberate!

His death for you containing!

.

.

This substitution had to take place!

Sure His love for sinful man!

“Wages of sin is death!”  The exchange, this

Only God can!

Such substitution has to be accomplished

God’s love for sinful man!

.

.

The repetition sure for effect!

Can such expression be

Ever vibrant enough to

Capture His love for me?

.

.

This accomplishment, price paid in full.

What further could be done?

Son of God, yes, man’s Creator,

To die for everyone!

.

.

“Wages of sin, sure, death!”  All have sinned!

Fallen way short of projection.

God’s projection for all men, in sin

Lost, torn from protection!

.

.

Only God, a God’s protection hand (love),

Could make Him deny

His holiness, so spotlessly pure

To this though, we comply.

.

.

The thought of assuming all men’s sins

Dying in sin for us.

Who never knew sin, spotless Lamb of

God!  And we from the dust!

.

.

“Dust to dust,”  of all mankind said,

But of the body alone

Imperishable the soul lives on

Always with Christ who  atones!

.

.

Me

“GOD SO LOVED…” ISAIAH 9:6

“Lion of the tribe Judah”, “Bright and morning Star”

“His name shall be called, Mighty God…”  Ever near, yet far.

.

.

“Wonderful, Counselor, The blessed Prince of Peace.”

“…The increase of His government…It will never cease…”

.

.

“For unto us a Child is born,” Miraculous. “Son is given.”

This Son will be nailed to a cross, hands and feet nails driven!

.

.

This Son is nailed for our sins, upon a criminal cross!

This Son of God, God Himself!  Why should He suffer loss?

.

.

He took that cross for our sins.  He took my place up there!

The Sinless One assumed my loss, that no one else could bear!

.

.

Jesus, the only sinless man.”  No other man could show

Sinlessness to any degree.  Why God came below!

.

.

But before Christ came, a spotless Lamb, was sins sacrifice!

This lamb, this sinner presented, for it was sin’s price!

.

.

So “Behold, the Lamb of God,” John cried, “He who takes my sin.”

Only He can do it.  Receive Him!  Let Him enter in!

.

.

Just  what did He do, our Sacrifice?  He assumed all our shame.

He “became sin” and died there this is why He came!

.

.

Then I see Him, in the tomb.  Third day contemplating that death!

Those nails that has held Him there, drew a shuddering breath!

.

.

Why this torturous, hideous death?  Remember “Wages of sin…”

He took that death that we may find pure cleansing within!

.

.

All that we need, ‘Confess our sins’ to His forgiveness find!

The “Wages of sin is death!”  I choose life!  Now I have peace of mind!

.

.

God SO loved the world that He gave… and I accept!

SIDE STEPPING

“I do not deserve,” “I am not good enough,”

Neither side will win!

For ever since Christ died for you

Ignoring Grace is sin!

.

.

It is free.  “Nothing is free,” you say.

Exactly why you lose.

Raised to feel that nothing is free,

You just sit back and choose.

.

.

Guess I will go the legalistic way,

Keep the law and pass.

You may be good for several days

But it just will not last.

.

.

Dependence a good word to learn.

Christ took your sins and died!

Because the “Wages of sin is death” (1)

He died!  Was crucified!

.

.

Salvation is yours once you depend

On Him who paid sins price!

It is free to all because Christ made

That single sacrifice!

.

.

Now when I sin I still depend (2)

On that one death, He died.

I come confessing, He forgives, (2)

I cannot be denied. (3)

.

.

His word is good, He keeps His word,

Whatever you may think!

The water of life is free to all (4)

All you need do is drink!

.

.

(1) “…but the gift of God is eternal life.”

(2) 1 John 1:9

(3) But David warns against presumptuous sinning.

(4) Revelation 22:17

HE DIED, ONCE AND FOR ALL

Doctors cannot do it, cannot heal the soul!

Cannot begin to try.

Cannot cauterize, may heal a heart but

To forgive, Christ had to die!

.

.

“The wages of sin is death,” so Christ

Assumed the penalty,

Because He loves us!  He took the cross!

Made it so plain to see!

.

.

Why cannot we take God at His word?

When He tells us, “I forgive!”

Gratefully lift up hands, now cleansed,

Thank Him!  Begin to live!

.

.

That is why He died!  Do not you believe?

Claim His forgiveness now!

Or did the Savior die in vain?

My sin He cannot allow!

.

.

The devil lies!  Forgive He will!

Do not live in doubt!  Receive!

He said, “Confess your sins.  I will forgive.”

Thank The Lord!  Just believe!

.

.

It was not an easy sacrifice!

Can you feel the agony?

The cost of our sins, His cruel death,

Something too hard to see!

.

.

Was Judas forgiven?  Of course he was!

Believe I hear Jesus cry.

Judas could not believe nor receive,

So in sin he had to die!

.

.

It is your never dying soul!

Take good care of it!

.

FOR YOU AND ME

Driven by love and deliberately

He gave His life for you and me.

Did He have to?  Yes and I know it well!

Delivering me from a certain hell!

.

.

But before He ever heard my cry

He obeyed the call, he had to die!

“The wages of sin is death,” I know

That is why he had to Calvary go!

.

.

Such pain and suffering!  How could He

Contain it all?  The agony!

Horrific!  Continuous the route

Of misery men brought about!

.

.

Sadistic laughter filled the air!

Enjoying suffering they saw there!

“Forgive them, Father,” He gritted out!

Then all there gathered heard His shout:

.

.

“It is finished!”  He thundered then,

The Son of God despised by men.

It was heard from Gaza to Galilee

Near splintered that object of agony!

.

.

At last the Savior from that cross

Cried, “Why must I thus suffer loss?”

“It is finished!”  He finally cried

“Into Thy hands…”  He gasped and died!

.

.

His stricken shout God answered then

With lightening, thunder, clouds contend

Blackening the sky, the sun put out!

Priests fled blindly with frenzied shout!

.

.

The earth split open, many were lost!

Violent the quakes, like, tempest tossed!

The Christ entombed!  Could not hold!

He rose!  As He so often foretold!

MY SIN II

With my sins I crucified Him!

Shall I torture again?

A time ago I nailed Him there

And watched as He writhed in pain!

No! I did not enjoy that sight!

Knowing my sins put Him there!

“Wages of sin is death,” this I know!

Kept sinning without care.

Painful the death He claimed for all,

At least six hours hanging.

Spikes in hands and feet, we all saw

Wind moving the dangling!

Terrible too, how we tortured Him,

Of course, your sins and mine!

None ever suffered as He did there!

Christ! The sinless Divine!

Hypocrites only claim divinity,

‘No sin in me.’ they claim!

But, “All have sinned and come short,” (*)

Just One sinless, the name Jesus!

His death claimed your sins and mine!

Died for hypocrites, too.

Those who claim no sin in my life,

Have no better to do!

But sit in their self-magnified seats there

And write about other sinners.

Only ones who could not do the bad stuff

Priests, preachers, winners(?)

Then those who are saved by God’s Grace

Know what to turn from!

What must I do with the crucified?

Died for sins, every one!

Prayer for forgiveness would not hurt one bit

Forgiveness of sins! What else?

Then Jesus, He will teach how to really pray!

There is Jesus, only One Sinless!

A frock gown of self-righteousness

Just does not exist!

We sinners all! Must fall face down

To the One we resist!

I should be dangling on that cross!

Except for me He died!

Only One without sin ever!

Our King we crucified!
