VICTORY COMPLETE

Just what the Christ endured, there is no way to report!

As he dangled from that cross, just nails as His support!

Just think of it:  the agony, as pain turns to torture;

And torture keeps increasing with no way to departure.

.

.

No way to depart this life until death, descending,

Brings sweet relief to pain and the agony unending,

But six hours on that cross, no way to banish shame,

A few devoted followers recognize His pain.

.

.

They wept, Christ heard, and slowly His eyes turned to them.

Fixed on Mary and John, He tenderly spoke to them.

He saw the jeering crowd, His eyes then looked upward,

He prayed, “Father, forgive them.” But they heard not a word!

.

.

Was there no way to block out the shame, the agony?

Was there no way to tell them, He came to set them free?

Free from death eternal separation from God!

I am taking their sins on Me, their sorrows, oh Lord!

.

.

He died, was buried but death was not the victor.

He died.  His body free, forever free from torture!

The tomb could not hold Him.  A brilliant burst of light!

Fear engulfs the soldiers, who awake to noonday bright!

.

.

His enemy who tempted and mocked Him, shrank in fear.

A smile curled Jesus’ lips and He said, “Now disappear!”

Celebration forthcoming, He spoke, “Mary, I am alive.”

To five hundred other witnesses, He smiled, “Yes, you will survive.”

.

.

And then some!

FROM FEAR TO LOVE

When we finally learn to love Him as we fear Him,

When we recognize the fatherhood of God,

A Father who taught fathers how to cherish

The children reaching up to be adored.

.

.

When we graduate from fearing Him to loving,

The fearing turns to awe of His great power,

We never lose the sense of His provision

His awesome love and grace we have each hour!

.

.

Who, just who can have this confidence within him?

He whose sins have all been nailed up to that cross!

We who placed our sins upon the Savior dying

Believing that for all He suffered loss!

.

.

Believing that the all is whosoever,

The whosoever includes even me!

That all my sins were taken by the Savior

To be forever transferered to that tree.

.

.

I cannot deny the work that He did for me.

I cannot deny the changes made within!

Nor can I ever doubt the promise given

Of forgiveness and pardon from my sin!

.

.

Another promise also He has given

I need not fear sins wages anymore! (1)

The gift of everlasting life is given

The promise of sheer joy on heaven’s shore.

.

.

Oh God, I know that you know I am not worthy,

But because of love You had to die!

Even though the ones You loved all got together

To hate You and reject then crucify! (2)

GRACE MEANS

No you cannot afford to miss it!  Do not you know forevermore?

Life eternal!  We are immortal!  Cannot take stuff to that fair shore!

.

Some folk striving to be better, got to earn my way up there!

We cannot earn it!  Do not deserve it!  Got to go up and get my share!

.

Never happen!  You cannot make it; your own righteousness will not do.

Work, work, work, and work some more.  “Not of works,” His Word is true!

.

All my goodness, righteousness, filthy rags.  The Bibles call!

I am better man than you are!  Well, okay but watch him fall.

.

Cannot you get it through your noggin?  “Not of works lest we boast.”

Jesus paid sins debt completely so you do not end up toast!

.

All you need to do is believe it and then gratefully accept!

Alternative?  Keep on striving, grace and mercy then reject.

.

No my friend, you cannot afford it.  On your own you cannot depend.

Come to Jesus sins confessing!  Without Him you cannot contend!

.

Many years I tried to earn it, tried to work my way to God.

Dismal failure!  Could not cut it until I cried, “Please help me, Lord!”

.

He is my Savior!  Daily helper now I must “Abide in Him.” (*)

“Abide in Him” in Him continue!  Yes, it is possible to sin.

.

Provision has been made for victory but we must confess that sin. (**)

He is faithful to forgive us and we then may enter in.

.

Renewed fellowship with Jesus until we see Him face to face.

Then we shall be like Him in forgiveness, mercy, love, and grace.

.

No, I did not have all the answers but I know who I believe.

This I know, my Lord is risen and His Grace I now receive.

.

Stop, Stop, Stop striving to be good!  Just abide, “Abide in Him!”

He will lead you to perfection.  Do not give up, “Abide in Him!”

SIDE STEPPING

“I do not deserve,” “I am not good enough,”

Neither side will win!

For ever since Christ died for you

Ignoring Grace is sin!

.

.

It is free.  “Nothing is free,” you say.

Exactly why you lose.

Raised to feel that nothing is free,

You just sit back and choose.

.

.

Guess I will go the legalistic way,

Keep the law and pass.

You may be good for several days

But it just will not last.

.

.

Dependence a good word to learn.

Christ took your sins and died!

Because the “Wages of sin is death” (1)

He died!  Was crucified!

.

.

Salvation is yours once you depend

On Him who paid sins price!

It is free to all because Christ made

That single sacrifice!

.

.

Now when I sin I still depend (2)

On that one death, He died.

I come confessing, He forgives, (2)

I cannot be denied. (3)

.

.

His word is good, He keeps His word,

Whatever you may think!

The water of life is free to all (4)

All you need do is drink!

.

.

(1) “…but the gift of God is eternal life.”

THE PATH FOR YOU

God is leading always; you may not feel directed,

The wilderness engulfs you, lost you feel rejected.

Jesus was rejected, rejection so complete

That only two knelt at His nail-pierced feet!

Just how lonely are you?  Does no one love or care?

You are in good company, you this with Jesus share!

He died for you rejected so that you need not fear

Ever being lonely for He is always near!

To comfort and to guide you although you may not see

A pattern or His footsteps, He still says, “Follow Me!”

We follow by believing by trusting in His Word,

Waiting and listening for that ‘still small voice’ you have heard.

Many times you have heard it, a clear and gentle prod,

“This way, walk ye in it,” the gentle voice of God!

Sometimes the path seems darkened no presence seen or felt.

Again you are in good company, Jesus, as He knelt

Alone in the ‘garden’ the weight of sin He bore.

The sin of all the ages, sins vilest filth and gore!

“Let this cup pass from Me,” He groaned but now we know

The path that led to Calvary, one way we need not go!

.

.

He went there for us!!

TERMS ARE TENUOUS

Unless the bond is thick as thieves,

Despite the busyness of bees,

Unless once driven to your knees,

The terms were tenuous!

.

.

If grace was easy to accept,

Or just another loose concept,

Not causing any great effect,

The terms were tenuous!

.

.

If tears were never once involved,

Or some old problem left unsolved,

With no real basic terms resolved,

The terms were tenuous!

.

.

Too easy to adjust to changes,

No major acts to re-arrange,

No real great difference, nothing strange,

Your terms were tenuous!

.

.

“This is so easy!  Do not you know!

“This grace thing really hot to go!

“Forgiveness easy,” is that so?

The terms too tenuous!

.

.

“Cannot I do as I always did?

“Presumptions sinning as I bid?

“For strange displays Pandora’s lid?”

Oh, God, forbid!

.

.

Not easy, not over hard!

Not tenuous so be on guard!

Where love constrains there is nothing barred. (*)

The multitude of sins…” (**)

.

.

(*) “Love of God constrains and controls us.”

(**) “Love (agape) covers a multitude of sins.”

ISAIAH 53

“He was wounded for our transgressions,

Bruised for our iniquities:

Chastisement of our peace was upon Him;

And with His stripes we are healed.”

.

.

It was my sins that put Him on that cross,

Every vile deed I had done!

He did not deserve but went willingly

Because He is the Only One–

.

.

Sinless, who could assume all our sins.

Mine, yours back to Adam and Eve

The Only One with no sin at all!

The Only Perfect One!

.

.

Godhead decreed as was prophesied

That Jesus would give His life

As a vile sinner for every sin,

To end sins death and strife!

.

.

Equip, yes, for heavens eternity,

Deserving of hell though we!

Punishment He took every lash!

Already half dead, for me!

.

.

Created us so he is responsible?

Is that not what we believe?

Then did He not assume it all,

On that black Calvary?

.

.

He died as a sinner, criminal yet!

Christ, The One Sinless One!

Capital punishment the cross!

Lifer, the chair, like, hung!

.

.

“God is Spirit,” the Three in One.

Dare any deny?

The Almighty, only Creator!

For all mankind to die!

.

.

Excruciating the death pinioned up there!

Suffering why?  You and me!

From the very beginning of time (*)

Torture determinedly!

.

.

Since it was love that put Him there,

Love only God can know.

The hateful defiled the hideous,

He died for all below!

.

.

(*)  God always was, contemplate but believe!
