READ THE SCRIPTURES

I cried, I prayed then faith took hold!

I thought, “Perhaps a wee bit bold,”

But no!  I realized we were told;

To boldly come!  (Hebrews 4:16)

.

.

“Faith” the “substance,” this we know,

“Of things we hope for,” here below,

“The evidence” will surely show

As we boldly come!  (Hebrews 11:1)

.

.

We may not see immediately

The “evidence” of “faiths” decree,

But as we pray persistently

And boldly come—

.

.

He honors us and then the song

Of victory we sing along!

The song may not ‘sound off’ too strong

But boldly come!  (Hebrews 10:19)

.

.

The enemy presents his dirge

Of subtle doubts, we feel the surge!

But faith then counters with the urge

To boldly come!

.

.

We boldly come and make our plea

Accept by faith and constantly

Keep praying then unceasingly

And pray some more!  (Colossians 4:2)

.

.

We are promised answers as we pray!

And so throughout the doubt-filled day

Perhaps with fasting as we pray

And pray some more!  (Ephesians 6:18)

.

.

The attitude of prayer persists

Of this the life in Christ consists!

The call to prayer, do not resist!

“Abide in Christ.”

.

.

We are scripture-bound to ask, believe,

Improbable to doubt conceive! (*)

This message from The Lord receive;

“Abide in Me.”  (John 15:4)

.

.

(*) He will do His part and answer.

.

.

(Look up and read the scriptures!  For crying out loud

do you expect me to do all the work?  That is what I

thought, King James version, of course.  What else is there?)

OLD MAN MENTOR

Old man mentor had his pupils some 2,000 years ago.

What he taught them was wisdom, the only way to go.

.

Abraham and Moses had Jehovah, the very best.

Elisha had Elijah, many prophets passed the test.

.

The disciples, taught by Jesus, could not get much better!

Oh yes, Joshua had Moses, they went by the letter.

.

Paul had Gamaliel, taught law and philosophy.

Later, in the wilderness, God taught and that was free.

.

Paul mentored young Timothy, his son in the faith.

Many are still mentored into Christ’s saving grace!

.

Melancthon had Luther and both from Rome were led!

Following the Scripture by the Holy Spirit fed!

.

My parents were my mentors, they taught through early days,

To follow Christ, the Savior, in Holy Spirit ways.

.

And then The Lord took over.  I am Holy Spirit led.

His teaching will continue as daily I am fed!

.

He is leading me to heaven, I have faltered by the way,

But depending on His strength, I am led to perfect day!

.

Eternal in His glory my Mentor and my King,

By faith I, even now, can the song of victory sing!

.

It is not my win but Jesus, who saved me by His grace,

And died for me that soon I may look upon His face.

.

One look not near enough!  I will spend eternity

Basking in His Son-light because He mentored me!

.

My depression destroyer to reach that happy day

I keep looking to Jesus!  He led me all the way!

PRAISE AVENUE

Praise Avenue in the city of bliss

Built by God!  Cannot beat this!

City of Light, sure, heaven it is called

Just no sorrow or pain there at all!

.

.

No sickness there, purest health and joy,

This is what I want for this old boy.

“Like the Angels…” Christ said, do not require

Such substance nor do they desire—

.

.

Stuffing the body with food that looks good.

Less calories, I guess, it is as it should!

I expect with old age one just tapers off

Getting ready for heaven!  Now, do not scoff!

.

.

A spiritual feast we know little about,

The banqueting table cannot do without!

But glorified body not in need of food

Substance, spiritual, and always good!

.

.

So very good as the reference suggests

Banqueting table without all the mess!

Mess here, mess there, we eat way too much,

Substance only consider as such!

.

.

Of course, it is required!  On food we depend

Required the system to defend!

Spirit is willing but the flesh is weak

More spiritual food we need!  Must seek!

.

.

Food for the spirits, our scriptures, provide

Prayerfully we in Christ do reside,

But in all sensitivity always we pray

For spiritual food each and every day!

.

.

So we have food and there is food for the soul

This intake we do not need to control!

Cannot get too much scripture and prayer

Strength you will find as you meet Jesus there!

.

.

Strength we all need to keep strong in spirit

One thing is certain devil is not in it!

He just took off when we prayed the Bible!

Do what it says and you will not be liable

to sin!

.

.

Sam’s simple preachment! 08.16.10

ALTOGETHER SUFFICIENT!

Just what did that poor soul miss that he desired

A fine palace and crown up yonder?

When we all get to heaven what a day!

We will be home!  No longer wander!

.

.

Considering song I remember from the so long ago

“Wrote my name down for a palace and crown,”

So then how can I help being happy and free?

Just no more begging or wanting for me!

.

.

Now if everyone gets a palace and crown,

Just kings up there will I see?

Just no one up there to rule over, at all!

Thank you, Lord for this fine country!

.

.

Everlastingly means forever and just God,

Only God is eternal, no beginning,

Always was!  No counting of ages He,

He, Himself did everything!

.

.

By Himself!  Sure nothing in this universe exists

Without His thought!

Sure, He thought everything into existence!

Stars, oh, and that frog that you caught…

.

.

Yes, once you were just an embryo then

A miracle of love!

God so loved that He gave!

Us to reign above!

.

.

Reigning sure, like, be my own boss,

Ruling my own kingdom!

Will be like the angels above!

Now where did that come from?

.

.

It is scripture, you know, God’s own word!

I did not make it up!

You know good spirits that keep us safe

Guardians who take us up!

.

.

Some glad day to be with Him!  Heaven!

Everything new, attitudes!

Communing surely and the way we will act

And think in all that we do!

.

.

Spanking new and so different!

With no night there, how sufficient!

I DO NOT GIVE A RIP

God attending to small details features this from the eternal.

Each skinny silk of corn attached to every little kernel.

The silk extends outside the husk to catch the rays of sunshine!

Each sun kissed kernel bursts with sweetness tasting, like, divine!

.

.

Just think other things, similar like the apple and pear,

Can you, the sweetness of a grape find just anywhere?

Sure makes our taste buds water that is not all!  God made them grow!

God made everything that pleases!  Does not this His kindness show?

.

.

In hundreds of tasty tidbits we find pleasure every day!

Mouthwatering juicy vegies there is just nothing left to say!

God loves us tries to prove it through our taste buds, nothing more?

Just gaze into the future.  Look by faith and see that shore!

.

.

“Many mansions” this foretelling beauty, luxury, beyond

Any human comprehension!  Listen!  That angelic sound!

Coming from ten thousand voices, do you wonder, cannot you hear?

Clear sound harmonious mingling, imagination brings it near!

.

.

Let us not spoil it by imagining, just know that it will transcend

Any, every mortal talent!  Nothing earthly can contend!

Music there is never ending, reach other planets, all

Bathed in constant praise extending, reaching those that did not fall!

.

.

Other planets, heavens pieces, like to ponder, think a bit!

Not suggesting this as scripture, so do not throw a tizzy fit.

Angelic choir from main heaven televising words from God

Around the clock?  No!  Daylight always!  Waking hours can afford!

.

.

Can imagination offer anything to beat this trip!

Do not know!  I do not think so but then I do not give a rip!

Through all our tears and troubles can we ever understand

That we were handpicked for heaven?  For we have sought a better land!

A LONGING FOR

I am leaving a legacy not

Appreciated yet.

Might forever be unknown

But by my mindset—

.

.

It is not all that important,

What is important I know

Is when I get to heaven,

I have left something to show—

.

.

My kin, grandchildren, great grand

Children, when I am gone.

Something worthwhile they can read

Lift them up than upon!

.

.

Something reminiscent of

Jesus and His love,

Reminiscent of the Scripture

That lifts our thoughts above—

.

.

The mundane, the frivolous

In contemplation, true,

Of that which satisfies more

Than what we can do!

.

.

I do not want them visiting some

Shrine made from a grave,

I am alive, I am up here!  Not

Down there, not some slave—

.

.

To the chemistry of change

Nothing down there can remind

You of what it is like in heaven

Or what I have left behind.

.

.

Sure, it was pleasant do not you know,

The church that used to be

The many friends, the fellowship,

The love of family…

.

.

Yes, of course, I miss all that

But it is permanent up here!

And all our songs are new now

With no semblance left of fear!

.

.

Many times I can remember,

When the fellowship below

Left a fragrant taste of heaven

Made me long for do not you know.

.

THAT SPECIAL DAY

No inspiration, what I know,

Helps very little since to show.

My sense will not make sense at all

Unless I on the Scriptures call!

.

.

Why did God say, “I will supply

All of your needs…” I wonder why?

Could it really actually be

That God in heaven cares for me?

.

.

Oh, yes, He cares!  And do not forget

Do not worry about that old mind set

That tells you, God could never care,

Got His own thoughts way up there!

.

.

Can you forget the magnitude

Of our God who will not intrude,

Considering your own affairs,

Yet proving that He really cares?

.

.

Look, He gives the early morning sun!

That solar blaze that thaws the numb

Fingers so that they can write

Expressions, thoughts that bring to light–

.

.

Some principles that, if forgot,

Can make your day a senseless blot!

So may I now presumably

Offer you what is so plain to see—

.

.

That if you would have your day start right

Not ending like some senseless blight,

Consider what God has to say

In His Word!  Then start your day!

.

.

P.S.  His promises help us to see we need to start out prayerfully!
