WHEN GOD SAYS WHEN or THE CHOICE OF UNBELIEF

Jesus healed all who came to Him,

The sick, the lame, and the blind.

The lepers, those incurable,

Still today it comes to mind.

.

.

“A hypnotist!  A fake!” they cried.

“Just watch the disease will return!”

“A master craftsman, magician,

He, with Beelzebub, will burn!”

.

.

But their unbelief came from him,

The one who ‘believes and trembles’ (*)

And the self-deluded just grow and grow

As today Satan assembles!

.

.

“What more can you ask?  The pleasures

Of sin, do they not satisfy?”

“Come live as you please and when life

Ends in oblivion, forever lie!”

.

.

This is not a true statement,

As Paul sincerely declares,

Who saw and heard from Paradise (**)

Secrets beyond compare.

.

.

And well we know, have felt the heat,

Of hell from time to time.

Nirvana, oblivion, how can you believe

The devils insidious line?

.

.

And still many chose the devils lies,

Just cannot seem to help themselves.

Deluded they think ole Satan’s imps

Are cute little furry elves!

.

.

Did not do Lazarus a favor when

God hauled him from Paradise,

Unhappy return to a world of sin,

To answer the sisters cries!

.

.

Yes, Satan lies, as God is truth!

He raised the dead!  And again

They will be raised everlastingly

Just whenever God says, “When!”

THE WISE CHOICE

No confirmed unbeliever can inherit

Everlasting joy and peace above!

But the righteous made righteous be adoption

Are already ever living in His love! (*)

.

.

There is nothing that can separate believers

Who by the Spirit are reborn,

From God’s love who gave His Son to save us.

Can a child from his mother’s arms be torn? (**)

.

.

It could happen in this day and has happened.

But God has promised never to suffer loss.

The loss of any of His children who have

Arrived at acceptance through the cross.

.

.

The cross is historically factual

“Before Christ,” and after dated true.

Persecuted Christians gladly suffered

To gain heaven!  What else could they do?

.

.

Then you measure time to everlasting,

A ruler or math you do not need!

This beautiful life is but a vapor

The difference we all must concede!

.

.

So where will you spend the everlasting?

The choice is positively yours!

I choose Jesus as my Redeemer

To Satan and his tensile lures!

.

.

Calculus, you do not need to prove out

Or measure the best choice to make!

It is simple as knowing the difference

Between real joy and stake and bake!

A PLACE TO HIDE

Do you know Jesus as personal Savior?

Has He taken your sin?

Life of sin, like, wanting to stay

In that pit where pleasures begin.

.

.

Distorted sense of pleasures devised

By Satan to drag you down

To his level of carnality

Where pleasures wear the crown!

.

.

King pleasure!  Crowned with dignity

Assimilating joy!

Eventually taking over its

Perversion to employ.

.

.

“Have to have fun, like, once in a while.”

Of course, you have heard it oft’.

Until job and fun control the life

With church one hour aloft.

.

.

A devotional time or two a day

If you really devote!

Can make the difference that determines

Exactly how you vote!

.

.

For pleasure time or for the King!

Question, is He the King?

Is He really King of your life?

Have you invited Him in?

.

.

“King of my life, I crown Thee now,”

Is this your invitation?

Or is your life controlled by a

Subdued, like, consternation?

.

.

Subdued?  No!  Never stays that way!

But a sense of disaster pending

If perfect love does not cast out fear

In torment you are contending!

.

.

That perfect love, a shared love with God

There can be nothing beside!

Perfection is hiding in Him!

You do not need a place to hide!

.

.

Nor do I, Sam Cox 08.31.10

PAST FORGIVENESS

“Father, forgive them for they do not know…”

He prayed from that cross for sinner below!

Who tortured, tormented then nailed Him there!

Jesus, who did nothing but show His care!

.

.

Untouchables, lepers He touched then and healed!

Could they not know what this action revealed?

The great God who heals, who raises the dead!

“Only wise God provides us with bread.”

.

.

Provides us with comfort, rest, when required.

Mary and John from that cross inspired,

“Behold thy Son!  Receive they mother!”

Brothers and sisters with one another.

.

.

Saw Him raise Lazarus, how could they not know?

This Jesus was God’s Son sent down to show

That believing on Him would mean their salvation!

As prophesied since Adam’s creation.

.

.

His seed should bruise the ‘Serpents head’

As man’s heel shall be bruised instead.

As the struggle continues, we against Satan, contend!

Victory is ours, Satan’s loss in the end!

.

.

With God deciding, how can we lose?

Just one way to lose when it is loss you choose.

But why would anyone chose such an end?

Understandably loss without a friend!

.

.

But we have a friend in Jesus we see

His promise He keeps, “I will never leave thee!”

Any separation, you can surely tell.

Say yes to Satan, he will take you to Hell!

TESTING

Does God still rule the universe

With everything around?

Including what Satan turned about

Whatever He here found?

.

.

So many poisonous creatures

On land and waters, too!

The air alone seems satisfied

To be breathed as we all do!

.

.

But even there some can be found

Disruptive to feelings,

Like, itching from sun’s hot rays

With plain sweat dealing.

.

.

“Curse God and die!”  What Job’s wife yells,

Plain sick of all his cries!

Easy to reject that crazy idea

As Satan’s idea implies!

.

.

Ashes from his fire do not help much

But determination wins!

Does Job bless God and thank?  No,

But at least he does not sin!

.

.

Why then does God dress him down so?

Maybe to emphasize

His right Divine to test everyone!

Testing no surprise!

.

.

All God’s children should expect

This, what we all need!

Not to question God’s overall as

In His pastures we feed!

.

.

Reasons not often plain to us

But unquestionable!

Just thank God thoughts we can

Once out of the cradle.

.

.

Not to fear!  God teaches us

Once we have learned to walk

The straight and narrow path He trod

And talk the way He talked,

Takes a while!

.

.

JUST THE START

For my indigenous citizenry

Felt it right to fight for country.

No thought at all, then to not fight!

In my thinking it was only right!

.

.

So I joined up!  Pearl Harbor time!

Whole lot of joiners in that line.

Country needs me!  I am feeling good!

Just twenty-seven, good as I should!

.

.

Do not care to take on Panthers as yet,

Made perfect score with rifle connect!

But the hand-to-hand just is not for me,

As a youngster we played that you see!

.

.

Sure, got knocked around but a rifle is better,

Bullet through heart!  Wrote the letter!

Expert on rifle range, perfect score!

So Tommy gun forced on me, I am fighting no more!

.

.

Preached then for 30 years across the country,

And that is what I aimed for once set free.

Traveled through many states, preached in most

Jesus remembering the Holy Ghost!

.

.

Now it is, “Lord please help today,”

At 95 praying pain away!

Soon be with You!  Sure, then it will be,

‘My country ‘Tis of Thee.’

.

.

God’s country, heaven, way up there!

No place here to compare!

Imagination cannot even come close,

Eternal, ever irrevocably most!

.

.

Of anything desirable to see

In heaven throughout all eternity!

Something Satan cannot start to spoil

Heaven forever!  No more turmoil!

.

.

No other love can come close to His

Made us for joy in Him, perfect bliss!

Where sin corrupts there, His gladness shows

As looking to Jesus who conquers all foes!

.

.

So I pray, “Lord Jesus, help me today,

Please give me courage to keep sin away!

Sin I will no longer abide

As long as I am close by Your side!”

.

.

Remembering Jesus on that cross there

Agony!  Torture!  Way beyond compare!

Bore all for you and me, can there be more?

Yes, love must see us with Him on that fair shore.

.

.

Contaminants?  Never!

Only pure in heart

Will enter those Gates of Pearl!

Sure, that is just the start!

.

.

the Sam

FEAR, HONOR, LOVE HIM

Heaven!  What is it like up there?

“Golden streets” they tell,

“Pearly gates, River of Life!”

Happiness, all is well!

.

.

And that is where I plan to be!

Sure, do not care to burn!

So I will be good then I will be cleared!

No!  Heaven cannot be earned!

.

.

My goodness just is not good enough!

It alone will not do!

I go to church, I wash my neck!

My goodness stands in lieu. (*)

.

.

In lieu of God’s divine approach,

His goodness we cannot know

Until we glue ourselves to Him!

In His direction flow!

.

.

Cannot be good for Christ Himself

Did not make such a claim!

Our God in heaven!  Only He

Has goodness in His name!

.

.

The great “I AM” is over all!

In heaven sin cannot dwell!

God’s wholeness, holiness complete

Makes all clear all is well!

.

.

For heaven is perfection plus!

No sorrow enters there!

Just gladness, joy, yes, joy complete!

Earth’s best cannot compare!

.

.

Man’s goodness, far from good enough,

Sins shroud hangs over all!

In heaven sin cannot dwell!

It was Satan caused the fall!

.

.

Sins dark cloud will cover all!

Then how can we be cleared?

By bringing all our guilt to Him

The One that we once feared!

.

.
