VERY SOON

So there I was in the middle of it, this river so clear and wide,

And bright it was from a hidden source and I had no place to hide!

.

But why should I hide?  I thought to myself.  There is nothing around here to fear!

This ‘River of Life’ from the source of all life radiates nothing but cheer!

.

The water was calm and crystal clear and cool as an evening breath.

And strangely, I thought, there is feeling here!  Just does not seem like death!

.

But is was; in memory I felt the pain, the blackness of night,

The slipping away from reality, the loss of feeling and sight.

.

But look at me now!  Oh, look at him!  (The stranger running ahead.)

I followed him though I knew not why.  It was as though I was being led!

.

Impulsively I kept following on; I felt his exuberance, too!

Soon I was leaping as high as he with joy, so crazy and new!

.

“Come!” he cried, his arms flailing wildly!  “Where?” I answered but ran!

He plunged in the river then I plunged, too.  Together we laughed and swam!

.

“Up there on that hill, the heights above, the city we will see from there!

“Up there, the center of all our light!  Our Savior beyond compare!”

.

Recognition then dawned!  We rolled in the sand hugging and laughing for joy!

He had died of the plague, so many years past, when I was but a small boy.

.

Father and son reunited at last!  What could be better than this?

“Son,” father said, “You have not seen half.  Soon you will experience true bliss!”

.

Same age now, though ageless we ran!  Tirelessly and strong!

Soon mother, brothers, relatives, friends comprised a glad, joyous throng!

.

The City appeared, ‘The City of Light!’  So bright and yet without glare.

I just could not wait!  I ran ahead to be welcomed by Jesus up there,

.

But wait I must!

Just keep in touch!

.

.

Soon and very soon we are going to see The King!  Hallelujah!

FEAR, HONOR, LOVE HIM

Heaven!  What is it like up there?

“Golden streets” they tell,

“Pearly gates, River of Life!”

Happiness, all is well!

.

.

And that is where I plan to be!

Sure, do not care to burn!

So I will be good then I will be cleared!

No!  Heaven cannot be earned!

.

.

My goodness just is not good enough!

It alone will not do!

I go to church, I wash my neck!

My goodness stands in lieu. (*)

.

.

In lieu of God’s divine approach,

His goodness we cannot know

Until we glue ourselves to Him!

In His direction flow!

.

.

Cannot be good for Christ Himself

Did not make such a claim!

Our God in heaven!  Only He

Has goodness in His name!

.

.

The great “I AM” is over all!

In heaven sin cannot dwell!

God’s wholeness, holiness complete

Makes all clear all is well!

.

.

For heaven is perfection plus!

No sorrow enters there!

Just gladness, joy, yes, joy complete!

Earth’s best cannot compare!

.

.

Man’s goodness, far from good enough,

Sins shroud hangs over all!

In heaven sin cannot dwell!

It was Satan caused the fall!

.

.

Sins dark cloud will cover all!

Then how can we be cleared?

By bringing all our guilt to Him

The One that we once feared!

HE STILL LOVES THE CHILDREN

Two boys in death hand-in-hand,

Tsunami’s dreaded toll.

Many times over and over again!

In heaven God in control!

.

.

Fighting waves as the waters rage

Each brother grabs a hand!

They clutch!  They gasp!  Breathing stops,

Lie dead there in the sand!

.

.

How can this be the will of God?

How can this ever be?

Millions of children in heaven now

In God’s eternity!

.

.

What hopelessness the Buddhists taught

But kids in carefree play,

God loves them.  He takes them home

To His eternal day!

.

.

“Let the children come to Me.”

He loves them every one.

“My kingdom waits, in heaven now

And I will take them home.”

.

.

What age accountability?

Who knows?  We will know then!

God’s love is what is accountable

And He can count to ten.

.

.

We see these boys still hand-in-hand.

They look around!  They stare!

Cannot believe this vibrant place!

Whole bunch of kids up there!

.

.

“Getting acclimated boys?

Do not be afraid!  Just Me!”

They see the smiling face, then run

To Him!  So glad!  So free!

.

.

Of course they know it is God!

They have seen Him through childish eyes.

Believe in Him so naturally

Gladly the child complies!

.

.

He points to the River of Life,

“You can breathe in that,” He says.

“Sorry about that flood below,

Will not happen up here, My pledge!”

.

.

Somehow they know, as they know Him!

His love for them well aware!

The Sea of God’s forgetfulness.

This they gladly share!

BEYOND IMAGINATION

There is a river flowing through the Land of God!

Perhaps the only river you will find.

It twists and turns just like any stream on earth,

But there is no other of this kind!

.

.

Daily dips in that stream are compulsory,

Maybe not, I really would not know.

Though I think a daily dip really should be

As it helps to keep one in that glow!

.

.

I do not believe that God provides cosmetics.

Uh oh, I believe we just lost a few.

Do not believe you will ever really need them

For you will always be fresh, like, brand new!

.

.

Do you suppose I am nuts or going batty?

Maybe so or is it just old age?

Looking up to that one-of-a-kind city where

You will never even have to turn a page.

.

.

No more books everything is in that river

Of Life!  Does that give you a clue?

That is one stream that you can even breathe in

River of Life!  Of course, it is true!

.

.

Never heard of such a thing?  Of course not.

God prepared this place, one-of-a-kind.

You just really need to up and be there!

Sure, I know that it will blow your mind!

.

.

Unique?  You will never find a place just like it!

God’s specialty!  I am sure He aims to please!

Imagination just cannot quite reach it!

Suppose that is why Paul said, “Cannot conceive!”

.

.

“Unlawful” (*) that is the word, I think Paul used,

What he saw there he must not repeat!

Do not you know God wants to surprise us?

And that is why, I guess, Paul must delete.

.

.

(Well, of course, this is somewhat imaginative,

but does not Paul suggest:  use it!)
