GRACE II

A renegade, want is my crown?

A maverick all my life!

Deserve no crown of righteousness!

My past is filled with strife!

.

.

A renegade, I have trampled on

So many, the line I have crossed.

Considering past policy

I have labored but I have lost!

.

.

I have hurt!  I have trampled, tread upon.

I have scoffed nor turned in shame!

Though inadvertent often times

I know I am to blame!

.

.

Contributing very little,

In shame I soon must face

Creator, Maker of all things.

Could I but count on grace?

.

.

Thank God I can!  This is my plea!

Though underserving, know

Though nothing in my hand I bring

No crown or wealth to show.

.

.

No accolated, no praise adorns

My life is what it seems.

Deserving?  No!  Accepting?  Yes!

Grace, that is what it means!

I AM SCUM?

Someday I shall be like Him for I will see Him as He is.

This is not inconceivable the desire is not amiss.

.

.

To be more like The Master in thought, in word, and in deed

Is desirable and natural not signifying greed.

.

.

For geed is not included in the spirit-fruits we see

Gentleness and kindness these will last eternally.

.

.

Patience, love, joy, and peace continue evermore

They litter the fair streets of that everlasting shore!

.

.

The brightest smile imaginable will greet you over there

Whether angel or first arrival the greeting will not be rare!

.

.

Listen up!  We are bought with the blood of the Savior.

We are justified and cleansed from all debased behavior.

.

.

Just as if I had died but God did it for me.

I am cleansed, I am made perfect, I am now forever free!

.

.

Was not righteousness imputed to Abraham by faith?

Reconciled and credited, giving then a perfect slate? (*)

.

.

The witnesses of Hebrews 12, great cloud of scummy folk,

All anticipated heavens joys imputed, not revoked! (**)

.

.

I am scum but I am a child of God!  Please elucidate!

For if I should remain scum I may miss my date!

THE STORY BE TOLD

“A child shall be born,” Isaiah wrote,

“The wonderful…Prince of Peace…

The mighty God, our counselor… (*)

Whose kingdom shall never cease.”

.

.

Jeremiah too, prophetically

Predicted the king’s success

Saying that righteousness would increase

Through our Lord, our righteousness. (**)

.

.

So many years ago they wrote

These prophesies that we know

Were all fulfilled at Jesus birth

Some two thousand years ago.

.

.

And still today the magic lasts.

It cannot be denied

Though there are many additives

The centuries have supplied.

.

.

Come, take a trip, a Christian church

Hear the message, yes it is true

Even the gifts that the Magi brought

We give and receive ever new.

IN HIS HOME

God wants to be your dwelling place,

Not a topic to discuss,

Your Good Shepherd to protect you

Or would you rather fuss?

.

.

About His many attributes

Not knowing Him as King,

While tearing Trinity apart

To treat it as a thing.

.

.

He prepares a feast for you,

A banquet in His name,

A contributory factor to

Worship and acclaim.

.

.

Not a topic for discussion

To wit; a seminar

Where everything is brought to show

His blessings from afar. (*)

.

.

You may draw closer to Him, like,

Abiding in His home.

As “He leads you in green pastures”

You will “Never walk alone.”

.

.

You are here in His presence

Now “Led in righteousness,”

I am “Led beside still waters…”

And I will settle for no less!

.

.

(*) As in conflict with close to Him, some folk cannot stand that.

THAT TREE

Jesus is all, he is everything to me.

He threaded me through hardships in the past.

The present is perfect because he lives within.

In spite of added hardships, this will last.

.

.

Jesus is all and in all, you have heard.

It is possible, he lives where there is sin.

Sin He became when He took upon Himself,

Your sin and mine, and cleansed within.

.

.

Nothing we have done to merit or deserve

Matchless mercy or His grace.

Totally free because He loves us so!

Justified, forgiven every trace!

.

.

Imputation, like, Jesus took it all!

His righteousness conferred upon you.

Redeemed, justified, adoption is complete!

Child of God, now what do I do?

.

.

I will live as His Son, grateful.  Oh, so glad

That He followed until He captured me!

The pain and the shame that he took on that cross.

I know only God could make that tree!

.

.

Of any tree but especially that tree!

GRACE MEANS

No you cannot afford to miss it!  Do not you know forevermore?

Life eternal!  We are immortal!  Cannot take stuff to that fair shore!

.

Some folk striving to be better, got to earn my way up there!

We cannot earn it!  Do not deserve it!  Got to go up and get my share!

.

Never happen!  You cannot make it; your own righteousness will not do.

Work, work, work, and work some more.  “Not of works,” His Word is true!

.

All my goodness, righteousness, filthy rags.  The Bibles call!

I am better man than you are!  Well, okay but watch him fall.

.

Cannot you get it through your noggin?  “Not of works lest we boast.”

Jesus paid sins debt completely so you do not end up toast!

.

All you need to do is believe it and then gratefully accept!

Alternative?  Keep on striving, grace and mercy then reject.

.

No my friend, you cannot afford it.  On your own you cannot depend.

Come to Jesus sins confessing!  Without Him you cannot contend!

.

Many years I tried to earn it, tried to work my way to God.

Dismal failure!  Could not cut it until I cried, “Please help me, Lord!”

.

He is my Savior!  Daily helper now I must “Abide in Him.” (*)

“Abide in Him” in Him continue!  Yes, it is possible to sin.

.

Provision has been made for victory but we must confess that sin. (**)

He is faithful to forgive us and we then may enter in.

.

Renewed fellowship with Jesus until we see Him face to face.

Then we shall be like Him in forgiveness, mercy, love, and grace.

.

No, I did not have all the answers but I know who I believe.

This I know, my Lord is risen and His Grace I now receive.

.

Stop, Stop, Stop striving to be good!  Just abide, “Abide in Him!”

He will lead you to perfection.  Do not give up, “Abide in Him!”

.

GETHSEMANE

He walked on stormy waters, raised Lazarus from the dead,

Took tax money from fish’s mouth, this is what He said:

“With God all things are possible!  Only believe!”

Still the disciples hard of heart, could not receive.

.

.

Five thousand people fed one day from a child’s pitiful lunch.

“Cast your net on the other side…”  They did, pulled in a bunch!

Saved the lost, healed the sick!  What more must the Savior do?

Remove the blinders from our eyes?  Yes, He can do that, too!

.

.

Miracles the disciples saw!  Still could not believe!

Then they saw Him raised from the dead, just too hard to conceive.

Today we see a sinner saved, changed to righteousness!

We doubt the transformation for miracles, we dismiss!

.

.

In fact, we judge that twice-born son whenever he goes through hell.

Conceivably a trip so real it is difficult to tell

If sanity has left for good!  But then at last we see

A test!  God saw me through my own Gethsemane!

.

.

Others, too:  “Savior breathe an evening blessing e’er repose our spirits seal

Sin and want we come confessing!  Thou canst save and thou canst heal!
