MY COUSIN ROY

One of a kind was Roy, there will never be another.

A loving father and everybody’s brother!

.

.

Man of God foremost, seeking first God’s kingdom,

Preaching wondrous Grace, everyone is welcome!

.

.

That is the gospel buddy, “Whosoever will”

“Come to Me…”  Inviting the age-old gospel still.

.

.

No easy payment plans, like, the many paths of God.

Roy stuck with the truth, he walked where Jesus trod!

.

.

Christ who made the claim, “The Way, The Truth, The Life!”

We follow Jesus’ way or end in bitter strife!

.

.

“Come unto Me,” He called, “And I will give you rest.”

Have you ever done this?  Why not put Him to the test?

.

.

If your church does not teach this, better make a change!

The Good News that is the gospel, your life can rearrange.

.

.

Take it or leave it friend, this is not something new!

Old as creation!  That only God can do!

.

.

Good business something Roy kept in perspective,

Not a priority, sort of an elective.

.

.

“Seeking first the kingdom of God,” this was his goal!

And still his goal in heaven with God in control. (*)

.

.

I will see you soon, Roy!

.

.

(*) I would not have it any other way!  If you have a better plan I would like to hear it!

SUCH A COST

Jesus, just the thought of You

Fills my heart with delight!

This world is no attraction now,

All I seek is Your light!

.

.

Your light, Lord, as revealed in Christ,

Light with brilliance that shines,

As I move in closer to You!

Savior, Redeemer, mine!

.

.

Had a vision, a glimpse of truth,

Savior’s face filled the sky.

Seemed far yet close and His presence

Dominated the eye!

.

.

Benevolence, loving kindness,

His eyes, His loving smile.

Seemed to grow brighter as He moved in,

Un-dimming all the while!

.

.

Gradually the face grew smaller!

Clarity was not lost!

The picture in His eyes I saw,

His death at such a cost!

.

.

Then that smile, such beauty there!

Brings joy forevermore!

Death is past, new life forever!

Eyes on that distant shore!

.

.

Kingdom of God,  in my heart!

Keeping my eyes on Him!

Near or far, He is always close by,

Brightness will never  d i m!

.

.

Sadness, times I may experience,

As eyes may drift away!

Following luster in fields afar,

Turn back that very day!

.

.

Return with tears, the sorrow real!

While I am still in the fold!

He has never withdrawn His love!

He is faithful who told…

“I will never leave nor forsake…”  Hebrews 13:5

TRUST GOD…NO SERVICE NO GROWTH

The Apostle admonishes, “Grow in Grace!”

In service for the Lord!

Suggesting that there is no growth

If service we cannot afford!

.

.

Growth and service go hand in hand.

Not the one without the other!

We are not growing if we do not serve,

Like, helping a weaker brother.

.

.

Or service of some other sort,

Countless chores can be named!

The Pastor who is not naming them

Is surely to be blamed!

.

.

Many just, “Preaching the Word,”

Assuming, “This is it!”

Assuming identity only,

Glove just does not fit!

.

.

To fit one for the Kingdom of God,

No!  There is work to do.

“Not just works lest any should boast!”

But salvation, it is true!

.

.

However, we must identify

With the Christ who died.

Admonishing there is work to do!

For Jesus, the  crucified!

.

.

“Work the works of righteousness while,”

This life’s day so short.

Called we are to establish the fact

Saved!  And not to abort!

.

.

“Work!  For the night is coming.”  When

Man can work no more!

“The Lord is my portion, says the soul,

Therefore, I will hope in Him!” (*)
