HIGH THE REACH

Need way more good thoughts less of the bad.

More of the happy!  Far less of the sad!

More about Heaven, of course, reaching high!

Air there is thin, but when Jesus is nigh.

.

.

Then purity of air and the breeze

Where beautiful flowers, tall as the trees,

Spread their fragrance throughout everywhere!

No need for artifacts, pretend to compare!

.

.

Perfumery needed beneath God’s domain!

To cover uncleanness, always the same,

Since Satan won, in that garden down there,

Only to lose our Heaven so fair!

.

.

Pure delight far above the sin land,

Where one can feel Satan’s heavy hand,

But no longer felt!  Sure, he is no more!

Cast out!  Unable to reach Heavens shore!

.

.

Delightful the living, no tempter around!

Deflated, defeated, and deep underground!

Satan forgotten!  Just Jesus abiding!

Goodness and joy forever confiding!

.

.

Forever!  If tired, of course, there is rest!

But with bodies glorified the very best

Is yet to come, when in spirit you fly

Transporting forever, just never die!

.

.

So have you considered just where and how?

Depends on whom or to what you kow-tow!

Stuff and things in Hell!  All together!

Down yonder with the best:  stormy weather!

.

.

If walking with Jesus, no need to fear!

Continue that joyous walk!  Ever near,

Just how can one lose?  Sure, lean on His arms!

Resting in Jesus, nothing alarms!

.

.

Of course, I want to see Him!

Look upon His face!

FROM FEAR TO LOVE

When we finally learn to love Him as we fear Him,

When we recognize the fatherhood of God,

A Father who taught fathers how to cherish

The children reaching up to be adored.

.

.

When we graduate from fearing Him to loving,

The fearing turns to awe of His great power,

We never lose the sense of His provision

His awesome love and grace we have each hour!

.

.

Who, just who can have this confidence within him?

He whose sins have all been nailed up to that cross!

We who placed our sins upon the Savior dying

Believing that for all He suffered loss!

.

.

Believing that the all is whosoever,

The whosoever includes even me!

That all my sins were taken by the Savior

To be forever transferered to that tree.

.

.

I cannot deny the work that He did for me.

I cannot deny the changes made within!

Nor can I ever doubt the promise given

Of forgiveness and pardon from my sin!

.

.

Another promise also He has given

I need not fear sins wages anymore! (1)

The gift of everlasting life is given

The promise of sheer joy on heaven’s shore.

.

.

Oh God, I know that you know I am not worthy,

But because of love You had to die!

Even though the ones You loved all got together

To hate You and reject then crucify! (2)

WHAT IS IT LIKE? GOD KNOWS

The earnest of our inheritance (*)

Is the pledge of the same!

The promise that we will receive

For it is pledged in Jesus’ name!

.

.

The inheritance that we hold dear,

We value above this life,

It is the promised life beyond the veil,

This veil of tears and strife.

.

.

Sure, there is beyond, within, the stars

Real life that will never end!

Heaven, the heavens, make no mistake

Real!  I do not need to defend!

.

.

It is promised in God’s Word to all

Who will trust Him and obey!

Once you have entered, become God’s child,

There is no other way!

.

.

We look alive when we come alive in

New life that He bestows!

A realization that we receive

Knowledge that grows and grows!

.

.

Revealing new truths as we receive

What He has already taught.

We grow in grace and the wisdom that

He, with His life, has brought!

.

.

He went “to prepare a place for” us

As real as ever we will know!

More real than the life we live on earth

Or lived that He will show.

.

.

The life we now live is punishment

Compared to New Life once arrived.

Truly alive when in heaven’s shore

Forever!  By Jesus’ side!

LOOK AT IT THIS WAY

Sin put you in prison for life!

Nothing to do but think!

Small window up high, stale air

To breathe, tap water to drink.

.

.

Hopeless there, four walls to see

Just two meals a day!  What crime?

Jesus comes!  Impossible!  But

Offers to do your time!

.

.

You stubbornly reject His offer,

Sadly He goes His way,

The gimmick, what does He get out of this?

You close your heart and stay!

.

.

Or this way:

.

.

Sins penalty, “sins wages, death!”

Jesus will take your place!

“Yeah, right!  What does He get out of it?”

Nothing!  It is only God’s grace!

.

.

Grace?  Of course you do not understand,

Why would anyone die?

Motive questioned?  Consider well,

“Grace, His love will not lie!”

.

.

Cannot trust yourself?  All hope is gone?

“Eternal life?  What is that?”

Dream world!  Come out of the clouds!

You are heaven, just way too pat!

.

.

Jesus promised!  Enough for me!

My hope is heaven’s shore!

Anticipation sheer delight!

With Him forevermore!

.

.

“Grace, God’s grace, grace that pardons and cleanses within!

Grace, God’s grace, grace that is greater than all our sin!

FOREKNOWLEDGE, ANTICIPATION, EXPECTATION

Foreknowledge, of course God knows it all,

Where you are going, where you have been,

Long before your parents seed.  He

Knew you, yes, born in sin.

.

.

Born in sin from Adam’s failure,

Provision made for our return,

Christ’s sacrifice is our salvation!

We yield to Him and start to learn!

.

.

So much to learn, anticipation!

Christ would have us learn from Him!

Led on by the Holy Spirit,

Anticipates freedom from sin!

.

.

Anticipate His promised blessings!

Guidance, joy, provision made,

Every need supplied, believe it!

He wants you to make the grade!

.

.

His expectation for your freedom!

From the tentacles of shame!

It was our shame He took to Calvary

And He then assumed the blame!

.

.

God’s foreknowledge long beforehand

Saw you safe on heaven’s shore!

It was His anticipation

Expecting us forevermore!

.

.

His foreknowledge, expectation,

Wanted you to meet Him there!

And His Will is never thwarted!

Anticipates you!  Of course He cares!

FEELING LOW-FEELING HIGH

I feel so low, lower than, like, I could walk under a snake

With my hat on my head and not even scrape it!  Give or take…

Lately I have been thinking, “Why Lord, you know that I love you,”

Sure, that is what I am thinking, “You know I cannot live without You!”

.

.

Dependency, I know that is right!  Trust Him as you do your best.

“Come unto Me, all you who labor and I will give you rest.”

“Take My yoke upon you, My burden…”  What burden?  It is so light!

“Lean not to you own understanding,” trusting in Me is right!

.

.

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart!”  Your own understanding will fail!

Continue this walk!  Do not give up!  Many minor details

Confront the pilgrim in his walk, do not listen to Satan!  He lies!

“Resist the devil and he will flee, you can cut him down to size!”

.

.

But to not exalt (*) in this, you know, only Christ can defeat.

He resisted Satan for forty days, without any food or sleep!

So “Trust in the Lord with all you heart, lean not to your own understanding,”

“In all your ways acknowledge Him.”  He will see that finish, still standing!

.

.

But remember it is not in your own strength!  Seek, pray, and walk with Him!

He alone can lead through the night when the way is dark and dim!

But “Rejoice in the Lord” for “The joy of the Lord,” this alone, “Is your strength!”

So continue in Him!  He will not let you down!  He will see you through at length!

.

.

Well, you know, I feel better already though feelings are not the end,

Not even the beginning of end, for feelings can give and bend!

But the feelings of joy, of love, and of grace contained forevermore

May last throughout the Christian’s life until we reach Heaven’s Shore!

.

.

(*) Exalt:  brag about.

MY HOME IS HEAVEN

Poems produced by fools like me

But only God can make a tree.

Roots, limbs, leaves of many kinds

Variety to blow your minds!

.

.

Some bear fruit while others give shade.

Some reach the ground with weeping cascades.

Some are small bear fruit one can reach,

Like those bearing plums, cherries, or peach.

.

.

I know God delights in variety!

Is there nothing new for us to see?

When Solomon said, “There is nothing new,”

Suppose he was blinded by mountain dew?

.

.

It is new every morning, each plant and flower,

That timid bud that seems to cower

Beneath the foliage as if to hide

From prying eyes, their beauty to bide.

.

.

I see a small lizard, it streaks away.

It is smart, it may see another day.

A black bird swoops, small snake in its claw,

Wriggling like crazy, but it is too late now.

.

.

A city it seems, though peaceful and quiet.

No robberies to fear, no fights or riots,

Moved all my life, 10 places or more.

Fine place to stay before Heaven’s shore.

.

.

Thank God for this place!  May not be new,

Snakes, rabbits, lizards resembling a zoo.

A small zoo, I call my final home

Before I reach Heaven, no longer to roam!

.
