I FLEW WITH ANGELS

I do not think that God drives a Cadillac. (*)

And Chryslers are quite scarce up there.

While the angels do not live in palaces

They manage to look tidy, clean, and fair.

.

.

Though things on earth do not seem applicable,

Angels can adjust, I know it is true.

I saw the white, I felt their hands though lightly.

I just relaxed, nothing left to do.

.

.

The moment I gave up with both legs dying,

My hands three inches from the ground,

I was lifted, carried, and I thanked them.

But there were no “Jump Masters” around.

.

.

“Jump Masters carried you?  No!  I do not think so.”

“You flew in alone and clobbered me!”

I then came to the most natural assumption;

Hands felt real and white all I could see.

.

.

I actually was carried by those angels!

Obvious reality assumed!

Reality?  But angels are just spirits!

Perhaps I am not spiritually attuned!

.

.

A cool breeze blows, we assume just happened.

Or were a host of angels flying by?

I do believe they are real and we will be like them!

Angels been around, they never die!

.

.

So what we have here is a dimension,

A dimension of the spirit, not unknown!

Believed in and accepted unrestrictive!

We will fly with them nevermore alone!

.

.

(*) Me?  I cannot even spell it!

ONLY GOD WOULD MAKE A TREE

Man builds steeples, tall skyscrapers,

Structures great for all to see.

Bridges spanning mighty rivers

But God alone can build a tree!

.

.

Concentrating on the mighty!

Cathedrals, obelisks that tower,

Pull sights down to the flighty

Only God can build a flower!

.

.

Could it be that man keeps reaching

For the sky to prove that he

Above all else is still almighty

But can that man build a sea?

.

.

Man builds cars, tanks, and cannons,

Smart bombs, dumb bombs, on and on

God just shakes His head and murmurs

“I made earth man builds upon!”

.

.

Man in rage thinks, “Let us destroy it,”

God in love looks down on me.

Cannot you see?  He did it for us!

Only God would make a tree!

ETERNAL EVERLASTING

“Coming down from God out of heaven?”

New heaven and earth shall be

Forever glorify our King of Kings,

Then we will know eternity!

.

.

Eternity means no more than life evermore!

Eternity is God designed!

Whatever man may boast, all he can do

Only God!  Man halts at that line!

.

.

We will live forever but God always was!

God created everything!

Admit that you cannot understand it all!

Finitely we to Him cling!

.

.

The stars above He has counted them all!

He gave to each one its own name! (1)

Pleiades of Taurus, Antares all the stars

And each one unique, none the same!

.

.

Great is God’s power!  His understanding, too!

Infinite His wisdom! Agree? (2)

Beyond imagination beyond all our means

We are but mortality!

.

.

So now consider His mercy and His grace,

Not just His power but His love!

“Heals the brokenhearted, binds up our wounds.” (3)

Fits us for heaven above!

.

.

A mighty blast of thunder!  Spinning galaxies!

A sparrow falls, what?  The Father sees?

Not only sees He cares!  He reaches out!

By His Spirit, He our spirit frees! (4)

.

.

What more do we seek?  What else do we need?

God’s promise, “Each need I will supply.”

Happiness today!  “Joy unspeakable,” always

Everlastingly.  “The sweet bye and bye!”

.

.

(1) Psalm 147:4

(2) Psalm 147:5

(3)Psalm 147:3

(4) We are God’s sparrows, His eye is on us!

HEAVEN AT LAST

Heaven gets closer as time rushes by.

From God’s perspective a blink of the eye.

We will wonder then what happened to earth,

That land of sadness of gladness of mirth!

.

.

A flicker, a flutter, a vapor, a mist,

A cold wintery morning, an orange sun kissed,

By God’s permission a dream in the night,

The serpent that hisses, and wakes us in fright!

.

.

Permitted a testing the choice is still yours,

Between the good and the bad that allures.

The choice has been made, it is all in the past.

Happiness reigns now in heaven at last!

.

.

The dream is fulfilled the dark night is over!

Never again the hissing, the roar

Of the serpent, banished from heaven’s domain,

And we in God’s presence forever remain!

.

.

(Cannot help it, “things of earth grow strangely dim”

When faced with eternity, not that I am holier, but

face it, I am older thus closer to that wigwam in the sky,

or tent or cottage, whatever, I just want to get there.)

BARNABAS

She said “You did not cry when your eyelids dropped.

You did not go ‘boo-hoo’ to everyone.

You gave your car away to your fine grandson

Looked like your life on earth was done!”

.

.

She said “That did not stop you, you got better.”

Reminded me that I kept writing stuff.

I kept reading, kept on praying, and got better!

I said I would keep on writing until He said “Enough!” (*)

.

.

She said, well you know, she made me feel much better.

When we got through talking I felt great!

Made me feel more like life was worth the living,

From now on I am flying!  No slow freight!

.

.

All these poems that I write I know she reads them.

Remembers, like, the word presumption.

Remembered from a previous one, she liked it,

Well, do not you know this guy too can dream some!

.

.

Words like these can lift a guy high, you know, skyward!

Such words do not come too often anymore!

This granddaughter’s name, I think, is Barnabas,

Encourager, think I will call back some more!

.

.

Another thing she told me, “Keep on praying!”

Helps me to go to sleep at night.

God knows and cares, wants me to care, also!

That is why you are in my prayers, feels so right!

YOUR PERSPECTIVE

One foot in the grave the other on ice,

Is that the perspective now?

Our actual thoughts regarding the truth

Of pallor on the brow…

.

.

One foot on earth the other above!

Now there is a thought, mature!

It is nice to know where you are bound

Because we are going to die, for sure!

.

.

The older I grow more surely I know,

I am really just passing through.

My sight is inclined more surely each day

On that city beyond the blue!

.

.

If this is your perspective I know

You are living not missing a thing.

Your life is full, sure some pain now and then,

But assured of what heaven will bring!

.

.

Like peace and joy evermore!

PERPETUAL GOD DESIGNED

Ever stop and consider

The wonders of God’s Grace?

His own perpetual motion

Spheres spinning out in space?

.

.

Will earth, one day, stop spinning?

And what about His love?

The earth upon its axis

It is all controlled above!

.

.

The spinning is timed perfect!

It is out of control!

The sun, the moon, the planets,

Well-timed as ages roll!

.

.

This is not accidental

Nor is His love for me.

Well-timed and orchestrated,

Along with grace so free!

.

.

Believe Him and accept Him

Yes, it is conditional!

He will not force it on you!

Perpetual, free, and full!

.

.

Perpetually inviting

“Come,” He invites you still!

“Delight yourself,” to love Him;

Start spinning in His will.

.

.

I cannot understand it;

Nor can you, friend of mine!

So why not name it proper,

Perpetual God designed!
