HAVE SOME JOY!

One out of ten may enjoy poetry,

Maybe even less!

But you may know why,  why that would be

What I do the best!

.

.

Ever since my very first poem,

Accepted I have had the bug!

Even King David’s poetry, Psalms,

Not stuffed under the rug!

.

.

Sold billions of copies, in a Book,

Bible, you should know

Will sell even more until Jesus comes

Helps Christians to grow!

.

.

Millions have memorized Psalm 23

“My Shepherd…” God is near!

He leads, He feeds!  And satisfies!

What then have I to fear?

.

.

Millions take comfort, it is written,

“I will fear no evil!”

Your rod and staff comfort bring

Need not fear the devil!

.

.

Sure he tempts but he cannot force!

Christ’s table satisfies!

Better than Satan has to offer!

With his tempting lies!

.

.

What can be better than Heaven above?

Devil may promise joy,

Sure, the bilious kind ever ending with

Hangover to annoy!

.

.

And in the end, what promise have I?

Of satisfaction?  Hell!

Heaven alone, everlasting joy!

What else can ring my bell?

.

.

Or keep the bells of Heaven ringing!

It is so hard to conceive

Of a God who longs to have us

Home!  Cannot wait to receive!

.

.

Of course, the place He has prepared for us

So impossible to fathom

When God, like, passes a plate way beyond

Anything known,says, “have some”!

ALWAYS THERE

I kept running from Him but He was there.

I kept cursing His name while in His care.

At times He used others to prove His care

But He was there, always there!

.

.

I guess you could call it a fling I had

But whatever you would call it, it was bad.

Like embracing the devil’s every dare

But God was there, always there!

.

.

A cliffhanger really, no foothold near.

No rope to hold me, I truly knew fear

But somehow I made it!  A foothold appeared!

Yes, God was there.  He was there!

.

.

Could ever a friend prove closer than He?

And if there was one I would want Him to be

My constant companion through here or there.

Only God was there, always there!

.

.

Though while having fun or while flying high,

Now this is it!  Now you will surely die!

Would you believe I was in His care?

Yes, He was there, always there!

.

.

With bullets singing their frightening song

And telling your gut, “Bud, you do not have long!”

Through thunderous roar, bombs bursting in air,

God was there, always there!

.

.

So, looking back now I do realize

Around every corner there lay a surprise,

Once more reprieve and not my demise.

God was there, always there!

.

.

Today I wonder, “How could it be?

Why was He there to take care of me?

And give His angels charge over me?

And why is He still always near here?”

Oh yes, He is there, always near!

WHEN GOD SAYS WHEN or THE CHOICE OF UNBELIEF

Jesus healed all who came to Him,

The sick, the lame, and the blind.

The lepers, those incurable,

Still today it comes to mind.

.

.

“A hypnotist!  A fake!” they cried.

“Just watch the disease will return!”

“A master craftsman, magician,

He, with Beelzebub, will burn!”

.

.

But their unbelief came from him,

The one who ‘believes and trembles’ (*)

And the self-deluded just grow and grow

As today Satan assembles!

.

.

“What more can you ask?  The pleasures

Of sin, do they not satisfy?”

“Come live as you please and when life

Ends in oblivion, forever lie!”

.

.

This is not a true statement,

As Paul sincerely declares,

Who saw and heard from Paradise (**)

Secrets beyond compare.

.

.

And well we know, have felt the heat,

Of hell from time to time.

Nirvana, oblivion, how can you believe

The devils insidious line?

.

.

And still many chose the devils lies,

Just cannot seem to help themselves.

Deluded they think ole Satan’s imps

Are cute little furry elves!

.

.

Did not do Lazarus a favor when

God hauled him from Paradise,

Unhappy return to a world of sin,

To answer the sisters cries!

.

.

Yes, Satan lies, as God is truth!

He raised the dead!  And again

They will be raised everlastingly

Just whenever God says, “When!”

PRAISE AVENUE

Praise Avenue in the city of bliss

Built by God!  Cannot beat this!

City of Light, sure, heaven it is called

Just no sorrow or pain there at all!

.

.

No sickness there, purest health and joy,

This is what I want for this old boy.

“Like the Angels…” Christ said, do not require

Such substance nor do they desire—

.

.

Stuffing the body with food that looks good.

Less calories, I guess, it is as it should!

I expect with old age one just tapers off

Getting ready for heaven!  Now, do not scoff!

.

.

A spiritual feast we know little about,

The banqueting table cannot do without!

But glorified body not in need of food

Substance, spiritual, and always good!

.

.

So very good as the reference suggests

Banqueting table without all the mess!

Mess here, mess there, we eat way too much,

Substance only consider as such!

.

.

Of course, it is required!  On food we depend

Required the system to defend!

Spirit is willing but the flesh is weak

More spiritual food we need!  Must seek!

.

.

Food for the spirits, our scriptures, provide

Prayerfully we in Christ do reside,

But in all sensitivity always we pray

For spiritual food each and every day!

.

.

So we have food and there is food for the soul

This intake we do not need to control!

Cannot get too much scripture and prayer

Strength you will find as you meet Jesus there!

.

.

Strength we all need to keep strong in spirit

One thing is certain devil is not in it!

He just took off when we prayed the Bible!

Do what it says and you will not be liable

to sin!

DEATH TO LIFE

We rationalize or tend to customize

The not good things we do.

“That is not so bad” or “What is wrong with that?”

Oh please, get me out of this zoo!

.

.

“Whatsoever is not of faith,”

“Sin liath at the door!”

One little sin can lead to others!

Sin, does God not abhor?

.

.

Sin is why Christ had to die, you know.

Little or big, it is all sin!

Cannot customize the wrong we do!

It all comes from within!

.

.

The Devil made me do it,

We are so prone to blame

Anyone else but we ourselves!

Of course, I have done the same.

.

.

“Forgive us our trespasses,” Christ prayed,

Teaching us how to pray!

And “Father forgive me as I forgive…”

Is that not what I should say?

.

.

Dispense with all the finesse!  Do not need!

Just recall with humility!

God knows all the fancy words there are!

Just thank Him, do not forget please!

.

.

Please is begging and beggars we are!

In God’s pantry, the best place!

“Thank you!”  Is what I will say once I get home!

Thank you for Your saving grace!

.

.

He saved a thief on another cross,

Suppose He can save this one, too?

“If we confess our sins, He is faithful

And just to forgive,” it is true!

.

.

“Until death do us part” wedding vows claim!

In heaven not the same!

Our life starts with our death!

Is that not why Jesus came?

WHY II

There is purpose in your problems,

I call it Divine Design!

First off have you not considered

He is calling you all the time!

.

.

Yes, calling!  You have felt the impulse

Projected until you obey!

Keeps after you gently, softly!

Until you hear what He has to say!

.

.

“Read My Word!  Meet Me this morning.”

Gently, “Now it is time to pray!”

How can we call ourselves Christian

If we do not start our day this way?

.

.

But back to His purpose in problems,

Obstacles, can you accept?

Fact that Hell lay them before you

Or is this a new concept?

.

.

Attention getter, I call it.

Within the Divine Design.

If you get your hackles in an uproar

It is the devils time to shine!

.

.

Just do it say, “Speak Lord, I am listening,”

Then listen, His impulse is clear!

I am not here to do a replay

Sufficient to know that He is near!

.

.

How can I know what He tells me?

Communication!  Would you agree?

Brings up the matter of caring

You mean He really cares for me?

.

.

He built you!  Or do not you remember,

His process through mother’s birth?

All organs, utensils are present!

Just nothing like it on earth!

.

.

Of course, I know you know better

It happens all the time!

Evidence of God’s designing

Just a wee part of Divine Design!

.

.

Maybe that is why we are so dense now,

It happens all the time!

Just once and we would remember

But then there is no one but, I am!

.

.

Just why should our matchless Creator,

Why should He care about me?

So why should he die as my Savior?

And suffer on Calvary?

.

.

NOTHING HERE TO FEAR

I reject this feeling in Jesus’ name!

This insecurity!

Though born in my heart or Hell itself

It is quite the same to me!

.

.

It was the devil himself that put it there

Though I did say, “Get thee behind…”

The feeling persists, I know there is relief

Somehow through Christ I will find!

.

.

I love Him in spite of whatever may come!

This is my answer I know!

By faith I receive His relief so kind

In spite of bad feelings that grow.

.

.

So why do I fear?  He loves me I know!

Nothing can come near to foil

The sweet liberty that is ours from above,

He gives nothing that will spoil!

.

.

Nothing that can be destroyed by storm

Nor dart from Satan’s throng

My faith is in Christ!  I know He will keep

And never leave me alone!

.

.

So come what may whatever betide

I know He is always near!

And whether it is pain and suffering

I have nothing here to fear!

.

.
