VICTORY COMPLETE

Just what the Christ endured, there is no way to report!

As he dangled from that cross, just nails as His support!

Just think of it:  the agony, as pain turns to torture;

And torture keeps increasing with no way to departure.

.

.

No way to depart this life until death, descending,

Brings sweet relief to pain and the agony unending,

But six hours on that cross, no way to banish shame,

A few devoted followers recognize His pain.

.

.

They wept, Christ heard, and slowly His eyes turned to them.

Fixed on Mary and John, He tenderly spoke to them.

He saw the jeering crowd, His eyes then looked upward,

He prayed, “Father, forgive them.” But they heard not a word!

.

.

Was there no way to block out the shame, the agony?

Was there no way to tell them, He came to set them free?

Free from death eternal separation from God!

I am taking their sins on Me, their sorrows, oh Lord!

.

.

He died, was buried but death was not the victor.

He died.  His body free, forever free from torture!

The tomb could not hold Him.  A brilliant burst of light!

Fear engulfs the soldiers, who awake to noonday bright!

.

.

His enemy who tempted and mocked Him, shrank in fear.

A smile curled Jesus’ lips and He said, “Now disappear!”

Celebration forthcoming, He spoke, “Mary, I am alive.”

To five hundred other witnesses, He smiled, “Yes, you will survive.”

.

.

And then some!

BELIEVE – ACCEPT

The chopping block, the guillotine,

The noose, electric chair,

The burning at the stake.  There

Was nothing to compare—

.

.

To the torture of the cross, with

Its nails, its constant pain.

Six hours plus, of torture, like,

Over and over again.

.

.

Did he have to take the punishment?

Or die on strangling breath?

(The consequence of death, of course,

“Sin’s wages,” you know, death!)

.

.

Of course He had to die (in sin)

Not His but yours and mine! (*)

The substitutionary work

Could only be Divine!

.

.

Deity, the cross of shame, (**)

What more could any ask?

He took the torture and the shame.

Now we can have a blast?

.

.

No!  Believe on Him!  Requirement!

What more could man desire?

Well, Satan too, believes on Him

And he is consigned to fire!

.

.

Believe and accept!  Rejoice in Him!

You cannot less acclaim!

How can you not rejoice, be glad?

He took your sin and shame!

.

.

Cool!

.

.

(*)  He was sinless!

(**) Not just the pain, the shame!

QUALIFIED

One thought and you are in Tibet,

But who would want to go there?

Fly through space around the world,

Sure, twice if you find it fair!

.

.

But heaven is so much better!

My desire to fly!

Ability true always there!

But why even try?

.

.

Why even should I want to leave

With Jesus abiding there?

He who died for me on a cross,

Love there!  Beyond compare!

.

.

Lord, I knew as the years flew by

Depended on Him always!

‘Please protect’ as in wartime I cried

And ‘please help’ since day-by-day!

.

.

He helped every time as shrapnel flew

In that big one, W. W. II!

Sure, I just, like, took it all for granted

As we all often do!

.

.

Then an angry hum sounding like death,

And death it was, just four

Remained from this squad of twelve.

Again and again, no more.

.

.

No more replacements the word came through

Just to finalize

Same four that went through it all!

Began to realize–

.

.

That we still had a life ahead!

At least, I followed my call!

To tell again preachment of Grace!

That Jesus died for all!

CHANGE OF VENUE

Dearth surely not the end of my life!

Sure, a radical change is involved!

But the flesh alone deteriorates,

While the Spirit, Soul, revolves.

.

.

Continues (dig this) forever more!

“Soul-sleep”?  Not  even close!

Future life is in the Spirit, Soul,

Die and you get a dose of the

Reality of  living forevermore!

This is not inter-collegiate, no score.

.

.

All that I know is what Scripture tells,

Sure, it is the valid source!

The poor man died then had everything!

Knew Abraham, knew the Lord, of course!

.

.

But the rich guy, what a miserable wretch!

Sure, once  had  everything,

Except for that, yes what really counted!

Where Angels ever sing!

.

.

Now experienced sweating in the abyss!

“Please, oh please, a drop of water.”

But, “That great gulf fixed”.  Could not be reached!

Terrible place of torture!

.

.

No!  Physical death!  No way the cessation

Of life!  Sure, we continue

Spirit, the real life surprised to be

Testing a brand new venue!
