HIS SHADOW

Whenever Jesus stretched His arms out

And shadow formed a cross.

Suppose He then considered that

One day He would suffer  loss?

.

.

And that day would mean salvation for

Every soul on earth?

Every soul believing, accepting

The Virgin birth.

.

.

Deity, The God incarnate, gift to

Sons of Adam all

Who would listen obeying Jesus’

Dying, Heavenly call!

.

.

Truly possible!  Jesus’ wisdom then

Amazed all the wise ones there

With knowledge well beyond His years,

Mere boy, but brilliant beyond compare.

.

.

Age 12 can we consider that

Dreaming, He spotted that hill?

A hill portending anything that

Could make His heart stand still?

.

.

With abject terror considering the possibility

Of one day suffering on that hill for sinners such as we!

Then later on a hill-top high, His heart cries out for all

Who did not love God, over all, who could hear the call?

.

.

To all sinners, “Come unto Me and I will give you rest!”

Many ways to travel through life.  My way is the best!

“True promise of Heaven, I give to all who follow Me;

I am making it possible, as I die on a cross tree!”

 .

.

“I will become sin.  I will take it all,

Since wages of sin is death.

You need not die, believe this truth,

A promise of heavenly breath!”

.

.

The breath of Heaven, this alone

Can avail, since Adam’s fall.

As we have come short way, short of God’s Glory,

Surely applying to all!

.

.

Delight!  Be glad, for what we see

Beyond this veil of tears

A land of promise!  That supersedes all

Conquering all our fears!

ENDURE OR LOVE

Been there, done that, what else is there?

Is there more?  I really do not care!

.

Seen enough to know I have had it!

This life stinks though many like it.

.

Take a good look all about you

Real bad stuff!  Can do without you!

.

What?  Find a cave and hibernate?

Let all out there, inebriate! (1)

.

The world to hell is going fast,

I just do not see how it can last!

.

I just do not see, oh, now I see!

Loving eyes look down on me!

.

Those eyes say, “Come, I will give you rest.” (2)

Get in on the very best!

.

The best of life awaits you here,

New life complete and free from fear.

.

“Come unto Me,” do not hesitate!

I offer life!  Why do you wait?

.

This life receive now joyfully!

From sin and self you now are free!

.

You are free to take a revised view

Of those despised who lived around you.

.

The rottenness that you despised

You mirrored.  Now you realize

.

That sin is sin!  That is why Christ died,

He took your sins, was crucified. (3)

.

“My life to you I now impart (4)

To love the lost, to have a part,

.

In kingdom building, to set free

The once despised you will bring to Me!”

.

“Is this not better than the cave

A hermitage, yourself a slave,

.

To pamper self and judge all others?

Now realize they are your brothers!

.

Prospective, that is, bring them in!

Endure?  No!  Love them from their sin!”

.

.

(1) Get drunk, have a fling

(2) Matthew 11:28

(3) If they had not crucified Him, He would have found someone

else to nail Him to that cross.  That is how much He loves you!

(4) Jesus speaking!  Listen to Him.  In your heart He wants in!

MY COUSIN ROY

One of a kind was Roy, there will never be another.

A loving father and everybody’s brother!

.

.

Man of God foremost, seeking first God’s kingdom,

Preaching wondrous Grace, everyone is welcome!

.

.

That is the gospel buddy, “Whosoever will”

“Come to Me…”  Inviting the age-old gospel still.

.

.

No easy payment plans, like, the many paths of God.

Roy stuck with the truth, he walked where Jesus trod!

.

.

Christ who made the claim, “The Way, The Truth, The Life!”

We follow Jesus’ way or end in bitter strife!

.

.

“Come unto Me,” He called, “And I will give you rest.”

Have you ever done this?  Why not put Him to the test?

.

.

If your church does not teach this, better make a change!

The Good News that is the gospel, your life can rearrange.

.

.

Take it or leave it friend, this is not something new!

Old as creation!  That only God can do!

.

.

Good business something Roy kept in perspective,

Not a priority, sort of an elective.

.

.

“Seeking first the kingdom of God,” this was his goal!

And still his goal in heaven with God in control. (*)

.

.

I will see you soon, Roy!

.

.

(*) I would not have it any other way!  If you have a better plan I would like to hear it!

TRULY PENITENT

“Rejoice in the Lord always and

Again I say rejoice!”

It is a Christian’s prerogative

It says, we have no choice—

.

.

But to praise and adore the very one

Who died to set us free.

Not just for the whole world

But He died for even me!

.

.

Alone no longer, so many friends

Will love and share with you!

And even so many you did not think

Would make it, so very true.

.

.

You have heard of last minute turnabouts

“Thief on the cross,” just one.

Some wounded wartime just before death

Cry desperately to God’s Son.

.

.

Were they heard?  Well, just what do you think?

Would a Savior who suffered hear?

He suffered!  He died for everyone,

Yes, He heard and drew them near!

.

.

A Savior who loved a saint through life.

Would He not truly rejoice

To hear that last minute

Plead with his dying voice?

.

.

Yes, I believe my Father cares

And loves us equally!

Did He not die for everyone?

And did He not die for me?

.

.

“Come unto Me…” not just a few

But inviting one and all!

“This day in Paradise with Me!”

All who will hear His call!

.

.

RESURRECTION LOVE

The tears of God washed over the land

Tsunami it is called.

Two children perished hand-in-hand

The whole world was appalled!

Yes, thousands of these little ones,

How merciful is God?

He takes them to His home above

It is His matchless love!

His matchless love provides for all

Who will but come to Him!

But age makes promises that call

Away from Him to sin!

The choice is ours, provision made

How can we miss His call?

Yes, crucified! He died to save

Not just the young but all!

The choice contends we choose between

The one and the other,

Accountability maintains

It is either live or smother.

To live for Him who died for us

How can we ever miss?

He died but lives, yes, rose again

To lead to heavenly bliss!

The resurrection story tells

Us it is the only choice

That counts for Eternity!

Just listen to His voice!

Saying; “Come unto Me, all you that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.”

THE SKY

The sky so blue, as endlessly

Displaying sheer majesty!

Countless the stars, shining at night,

Such beauty revealed to me!

.

.

Appreciative?  Surely cannot help it!

Am I then a rock, dirt that shows

Underneath those dirty fingers of mine,

Or beneath my shoes that shine?

.

.

Been a joy to write stuff for you,

I pray it has helped a bit.

Not like semaphore but a true message

Like real!  From the Holy Writ!

.

.

“Count, consider, it all joy!”  Sure a struggle to feel,

But remember that rugged cross

On which He died as a sinner for all!

He paid the price for our loss!

.

.

“Come unto Me…” is that not what He said?

Most gracious invitation!

“I will come to stay all my days,”

And think of the compensation!

.

.

Everlasting life with Jesus above

Consider Eternity!

Consider no enemy to shove

Or hand down misery!

.

.

Then consider Jesus, no beginning, no end!

Mightiest Savior of all!

Creator!  Redeemer!  And true through the end!

And on His name we may call!

.

.

Consider also, life with Jesus, always!

Everlastingly!  With no more fear,

Just joy and peace, time without end!

Happiness!  Endless cheer!

.

.

Is this then the end?  But who can tell?

Is not the end the beginning?

Of something, something far better?

Brand new!  Limitless inning!

.

.

But who is to tell?  Anyone left?

.

.
