HEAVEN AWAITS

Come with me to that city

Or country but who’s to know?

All I know it is far grander

Than anything we have to show!

.

.

Beauteous with angels guiding

Heavens hosts lead the way.

Oh my God may I be worthy!

Heaven, home, there to stay!

.

.

Can any be counted worthy?

Is that city there for free?

Who then is worthy to enter?

Yes, I will enter sinner saved, me!

.

.

Have you ever seen an angel?

Nor have I!  A few have been

That conditioned in the spirit

When he shows such peace is seen.

Frank and I doubled in brass

Wally most beautiful violin.

We were chosen, Central Bible Institute,

Professor Stokes led us in.

.

.

Many churches he had preached in,

Like, evangelistically!

Throughout our vacation time

Many prospects gathered we.

.

.

Many others promised,

We could not find or see.

Soon the Army called and

We were no longer free.

THE GLOW OF GOD

These saints of God, overcomers, have “overcome the world.”

Aiming for a better land, by Spirit they are controlled.

Not all, I think, some mope around seeming not to care

Or understand, they are reborn.  Their names are written “There.”

.

.

“If we confess…” He faithfully forgives all our sins.

Contented now in servitude to Him who lives within.

Then Jesus speaks, “You are My friends, if you follow through.

As earnestly you are seeking My best desires for you.”

.

.

Oh, yes, I confessed a lot before deliverance came.

It seems I sinned a lot.  I could not place the blame

On anyone, on Adams’ sins, I stood there all alone.

You see it was for me that He died to atone!

.

.

Can it be my mother’s’ prayers supported through it all?

Through many churches that I pastored obeying every call.

Calls to move or stay there.  Not always easy then,

He provided when He said, “Move” I just asked, “Where/when?”

.

.

Before that war, South Sea Islands called and it was rough!

Eating little, dodging bullets, you know, I called their bluff.

Actually, I knew it was God!  He answered mother’s prayers!

They did their best to kill me, but now I know God cares!

.

.

I know it now!  I realize I was no kind of saint!

Retired now, bad habits gone, but still a saint I ain’t.

But as a believer, guess I am.  Sainthood cannot escape.

I am aimed for heaven, the happy sounds soon to resonate.

.

.

Upon my tears within my heart consuming with delight!

Filling every pore with sound and happiness so bright!

Continuing this insane pace throughout eternity!

Insane compares to earth’s slow go of mediocrity!

.

.

Never mediocre!  The sheer force of joy sublime

Comparable to difference between sinner and the Divine!

The glow of God encompassing us forevermore.

Are not you glad you are bound for that forever shore?

THANK YOU, LORD

New Orleans and many others in

That hard hit southern state.

Disrupted, twisted, torn asunder,

What will be her final fate?

.

.

Homes near ruined, standing water,

Other homes destroyed!  Complete!

Nothing left but scattered rubble.

Weeping men concede defeat!

.

.

Crowded into high-domed stadium,

Hard to get along, I think.

Shortened rations getting scant!

Boiling water, cooled to drink!

.

.

You know something?  Stop complaining!

Nothing here to gripe about!

Water is pure!  There is food aplenty!

Churches open!  We do without!

.

.

September 19th, we had lightning!

Thunder roared, shook up our homes.

Just enough to ponder,

Without God, helpless and alone!

.

.

Thank Him!  Praise Him!  For protection!

Thank Him for His loving care!

Pilgrims offered thanks to heaven

With no deep freeze to get bare!

.

.

Yes, things were tough but they found favor

With their God who brought them here

To this land of faith and freedom,

Where they worshiped without fear!

WHERE DWELLS DARKNESS, JOB 38:31

In the shadow of the cross

No darkness dwell!

Light of God’s love dispels all sin

Saving men from Hell!

.

.

Ships are led by stars by night!

Constellations show,

Pleiades and Orion tell

Pilot where to go!

.

.

Job and Amos knew long ago (*)

Inspiration divine!

God who created everything

Reveals those stars that shine.

.

.

Where does darkness dwell?

When clouds hide the light from view?

Clouds of doubt can lead astray

We know well!  It is true!

.

.

Doubt God created?  You may

Live for this life alone,

No Spirit, Soul, just body exists,

Like, little more than a clone!

.

.

They “Hate light whose deeds are evil.”

Darkness suits them fine!

Knowing where sin leads, still they ponder

Hating God, The Divine!

.

.

Some “Hate light whose deeds are evil.”

Darkness suits them contained.

Deep in the heart of rejecters of Truth

Where sin sadly remains!

.

.

Determined my course long ago!

Small churches, three-year man.

Parishes, twelve in all for me,

Bring some growth where I can!

.

.

Closed a few where towns had died out,

Sure, I made some mistakes!

I admitted, God forgave!

Guess that is what it takes!

.

.

Faithful young wife, wife wise beyond years!

Determined to make it go!

When going seemed most difficult!

We both needed to grow!

.

.

Where darkness dwells in the heart

Discerning eyes still see

A heart that needs The Crucified

To set that Spirit free!

.

.

Darkest night to brightest day!

In that bright land above!

Sin passé outmoded up there

Where gladness reigns and love!

.

.

Little souls get used to dark,

Accustomed to their sin!

“All those souls who land in Hell

Could fit on the head of a pin!” (**)

FOREVERMORE

She was a preachers daughter, I a missionary son!

Guess birds of a feather flock.

Could hardly ever keep us apart!

Like, they almost shared one sock!

.

.

I knew that someday I would settle down,

To do the ministry thing!

But meanwhile life was calling out there

And this boy must have his fling!

.

.

So fling it was from Atlantic, cold,

To Pacific, warmth, go West!

Hitchhike, of course, one place?  This clown?

Of course, I loved the Pacific best!

.

.

But in between two states, did their thing,

The wild wilderness attracts!

Wyoming and Utah, wide open spaces

Just highway and railroad tracks!

.

.

Traveled both ways, never cost a cent!

Boxcars always free!

Hitchhiking the easy way, way back then!

No free ways distracted me!

.

.

Then civilized, yes, in the Army life!

Conforming to no life at all!

Lost millions of men in World War II!

Did I then hear God call?

.

.

I believe, yes, many times over!

God only knows His ways!

He spoke not just once but many times!

Bad tricks, distraction plays!

.

.

God stayed by my side!  I love Him so!

What’s left of my life I give!

Back to Him who sacrificed all!

That I with Him may live!

.

.

I am settled now, my mate has been

With me through ten or more

Churches, that is, I am a three-year man,

As I have mentioned before!

.

.

Settled down now, lost most of her kin

Are gone!  As are my own!

Know something, up there we will be

Nevermore alone!

.

.

Know what else?  Count a multitude

Of children, grandchildren and

Great to carry on this legacy that

We will share in foreverland!

.

.

My prayer!  You know this is my prayer,

I weep for you all each day!

That I will see you all at home!

With God to stay there always!

.

.

A THANK YOU!

The beauty God gave us to see and to feel!

It is for everybody!  Just no need to steal!

Landscapes picture perfect, waterfalls the knells,

Schools, churches with the come hither bells!

.

.

Canyons that seen to just roar in their depths!

Now look down at that dirt, ten-thousand insects!

Ants never seem to get in the way

Of each other, do they feel light of day?

.

.

Birds, so many species, some large and some small!

Colorful creatures so strange, strange how they call.

To the like of each advancing on the limb

Of a tree to attract another of kin!

.

.

Often holding their food like insects that crawl!

Birds, countless numbers, cannot eat them all!

Insects that is, sure, a bountiful supply!

Do not live long uncertainties too many, they die!

.

.

Of course, snakes, all kids, rattlers and the like,

Some colorful and harmless, just catching your eye.

Like the beautiful creature once coiled about my arm,

Had slid down an embankment, I felt no alarm.

.

.

Soon carried it back up to its grassy ledge,

It then slid off my arm resting on the edge!

Then believe it turned its head just once,

As though to say thank you, sure, I am no dunce!

.

.

So I answered, believe it, “You are welcome, little guy!”

Some things you just cannot forget until you die!

Then remembered times often, sure, I hope mother found

Though both are long lying in the cold damp ground.

.

.

But not so!  Sure, I know you will agree

That heaven is the place for them and for me!

Looking forward, expectant that soon I will be

Up there to live with Jesus eternally!

THERE! SO BLUE THAT SKY!

So blue that sky, everlasting blue!

Beautiful blue through the night!

Earth we live on so huge!  Compare

To all living things down there!

.

.

Stars so huge appearing so small

At night!  Just so far away!

Encompassing this tiny globe,

As if trying to say–

.

.

“Mix it up!  Then scatter abroad!”

Throughout this endless sky!

Causing men to tiptoe in awe!

Then maybe wonder why?

.

.

Mankind does not wonder over his thoughts,

So small!  Loving what, money!

Sure, currency much greater than all

And so much sweeter than honey!

.

.

Money can purchase food and pleasure,

Our smallness can compare!

To that bee seeking the nectar of

Many flowers out there!

.

.

Find new meaning to, “How great thou art!”

Seeing that tiny insect!

Feeling the sting of that honeybee!

Incredible the contest!

.

.

This universe, “The work of His fingers,”

Earth, the only peopled?

How can this be?  So many planets!

Churches, so without steeples.

.

.

How very small we be in comparison,

Compare not considering space.

Significantly unimportant, too,

Expecting God’s Grace!

.

.

Mercy there was great!  And grace was free!

Pardon there multiplied to me!

There my burdened soul found liberty,

Found at Calvary!

.

.

Never ending this process of dying to self,

Sure, it must have its own way!

Satan, of course, is leading in this!

Know it!  What is left to say!
