WHAT VOICE

Since I am losing my sight and my hearing

And I am older than Adam and Eve,

I do not know, anymore, what I am good for

For certain I am not going to grieve.

.

.

I have forgotten where it is I come from

But where I am going I know well!

I can hear the voice of God, a mere whisper,

I do not need a clanging dinner bell!

.

.

So what did God say?  He said, “Keep writing!”

Same thing I always feel He says.

Not that He says it, like, audibly,

Just a couple of times I confess.

.

.

Well, how can I know when God is speaking?

Or how can I recognize His voice?

I know I want to do what I am doing

So I figure it seems I have no choice.

.

.

If I just wrote crazy stuff I would wonder

But I write what God puts on my heart!

And some tell me that it is a blessing

So what it is I do not need a cart.

.

.

I do not need a cart full of ‘thank you’s’

Just to realize I am doing God’s will.

For this is the talent that He gave me

And someday I will send you a bill!

YOU ARE MY FRIENDS *

The creator and sustainer of our universe

He is the bright and morning star.

He is with me in blessing and fellowship right here!

Yet He ministers to others afar!

.

.

He is lauded and worshipped by millions in heaven!

Yet He gives Himself to us now, here!

He created the universe with a rare thought,

And still He abides with me near.

.

.

He is still creating out there in infinity!

Yet you can feel His presence right now!

He shatters the clouds with thunders in the heavens

And still we are no stiff, we will not bow.

.

.

Bow down to Him now!  He is worthy of praise!

We cower under “acts of God”

Repetitiously sing about our awesome God!

Do not you know He is the only God?

.

.

There is no other God under heaven or above.

“I am the master of my fate?”

Sure you are and yet when we come to the end

We do not want to share Satan’s fate!

.

.

Listen up!  We matter to our God of love!

He created worlds without end!

So easily He keeps universal order

And He still wants to be your friend!

NECTAR OF THE GODS

Consider the cow, its magnificence.

Capitulating sheer continence,

Controlling its stomachs, yes three of them,

Contently chewing its cud in the sun!

.

.

Pure grass it chews, then brings it back

From its first stomach, so there is no lack,

As it is chewed again the process minute

In producing pure milk prepared to suit!

.

.

Most sensitive stomachs anywhere,

Pure!  This established beyond compare!

This magnificent creature given to man

Regardless of culture extending the span—

.

.

Of man’s longevity, blessing from God!

And this, a blessing anyone can afford!

Thank you, Lord!  This blessing we know

Can come only from You for You bestow—

.

.

All good things to men everywhere!

There is nothing as pure as this we share!

God gave us the cow, like simple to see,

He loves everyone, like, continually!

.

.

Still cannot believe?  Give a good healthy look!

God made everything!  Must go by the Book!

“Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ—be saved!”

Enter new life, one you always craved!

.

.

Look around you may find a cow waiting there

To be milked, milk it, and the you can share

This nectar from heaven from earth back again.

So pure just drink it until God says when!

WHEN – WHERE

All year around our hearts should move

About the One who gave.

Who gave us this mortality,

This blessing that we have.

.

.

We share with others, we subsist

By giving what we own,

For owning is not permanent

We do not live alone.

.

.

I am not an island, I should care

Should reach out to others.

Deep within a longing grows

I care about my brothers!

.

.

You truly are, for are we not

All of us created

By our Father God of all

So we are all fated–

.

.

To brother one another

Or sister, case may be.

If we care about the future

There is immortality!

.

.

I shall not be condescending

But the evangelist in me

Makes me love and care for all

And think eternity!

.

.

This mortal must one day put on

The ever living life!

Which life is indestructible!

Cannot cut it with a knife!

.

.

Where I will live forever,

May I get personal?

I really want to go to heaven,

Have no desire for hell!

.

.

I know to some this sounds archaic

But when that summons comes

Do not care to miss my future

Nor overload on tums!

PATTY KLEIN

Precious jewel always cheery

Cannot evaluate her worth,

Ready smile comes from the inside

Nature buoyant full of mirth.

.

.

So natural in her helping others

Do not underestimate her skill,

Sometimes not an easy matter

But she comes through with a will—

.

.

That is what it is, it is power

With a sense of loving!

Any challenge she will accomplish

Do not need praise a little bit.

.

.

No problem there too hard or big

Nothing started, nothing done,

Gets willpower from her mother

And good looks, yes, she is the one.

.

.

But the beauty of this angel

Is the love of Christ within.

Nothing can such beauty hinder

Nor His tender love bedim.

.

.

Can you dig it?  This is special

She is a blessing everywhere!

Smile will not quit!  Joy will not either

If there is action she is there.

.

.

Once in heaven if I know her

I am sure she will kneel and say,

“Thank you, Lord, I do not deserve it

But it is nice!  Believe I will stay!”

Sam Cox on her birthday, Sept. 3

Happily her father

ONLY A SINNER, SAVED…

Though a sinner God watched over me!

Protected my hide!

Bullets well aimed seemed deflected,

Angel by my side!

.

.

I knew I was zeroed in!

A huge uprooted tree!

In this deep hole left there,

He could not see me!

.

.

Machinegun out there, of course!

Somewhere in those weeds!

I cannot stay here forever!

My squad hidden in the trees!

.

.

Squad waits but time to move out!

Al hollers, “Sam,” two times,

Time to consider fearfully,

And remember my crimes!

.

.

Of course, I would not answer!

Did not like them odds!

Enemy with machinegun spitting,

Praying to his gods!

.

.

Help me get him!  Please protect me!

Like other times we would see

Just whose God was the real one!

I prayed confidently!

.

.

Squad waited, time to move out!

Al hollered, “Sam,” two times!

No chances of getting out!

Like two thin dimes!

.

.

Gathered all the strength I could muster!

A leap surprised even me!

Even so bullet left imprint

Inside boot below my knee!

.

.

Aim real good!  Angel deflected!

Always the head they aimed!

Many the shots were aimed my way!

Whatever the reason, retained!

.

.

For what reason?  How should I know?

Pastored, one sloppy job!

Did much fishing, many pools!

I was one slovenly slob!

.

.

Forgiving, my parishioners were!

And God has forgiven me!

Blessing some as the years fly by!

With God-given poetry!

.

.

David’s Psalms magnified poetry,

Like, among the very best!

Compared to my rhyming verse,

Just ain’t no contest!

MYSTERIOUS ALL!

God is a mystery, man cannot define!

Explain His all power, God the Divine!

We cannot!  Definable only in terms

Of limitless Majesty nature confirms!

.

.

To continue the journey in mystical realms,

Contained solar guidance, ships without helms,

God guides, sustains, without sound or thought!

He powers the universe!  Cannot be bought!

.

.

For love is the catalyst far reaching beyond

Time, space, evermore, leaving no sound!

But His gentle thunder, while cannons insist!

Cannot compare to sounds of His bliss!

.

.

Reaching from the heavens with all embracing,

His love is real and not without tracing,

Trace all to Calvary, love without limit!

Can any fathom or ever explain it?

.

.

Became sin!  Who knew none or any defilement!

Contaminate purity?  Yet, was God sent?

God’s only Son but did He go willingly?

Living God’s love!  Loving continually!

.

.

Loving still loving just how can one doubt it?

Loving us still!  I will never debate it!

Proving daily, His love, through blessing!

Who then can keep from His name confessing?

.

.

Not me!

.
