MY INDIA PART 2

Still a few memories of my India remain,

Indelibly in my mind.

Think I have projected them once, maybe twice,

Over the first 10 years of my time.

.

.

Remembering will not cause a mental strain

I either remember or do not!

My God will not let me declare as true

What is not so I will not!

.

.

Few bad memories remain regarding us

Coxes and the Marian tribe

Including Baldwin Terrill and a few others thrown in

Now you are in for a ride!

.

.

Father had high fever but compelled to go

To village of a cripple man

From Brahmaputra River, a wooded campsite there

Thinking; “I am sick but I can!”

.

.

The cripple, a convert, dad went to encourage

Sat in the middle of the street expectantly

Waited for dad, crumpled by the farthest tree.

Smallpox took over for free.

.

.

Carried back to camp and put to bed.

Was assured, ‘God cares for you, too!’

Campfire, large circle about the fire

A native called out, praying for you!

.

.

Fever rose, boys driven back to compound,

Father died and was buried there.

Cripples request, “Carry me back to the grave.

Now go!  Leave me here!”

.

.

“You will be eaten alive!” the men declared,

But left him there shaking their heads.

Returned early morning expecting the worst.

Met cripple carrying his bed!

.

.

They were astonished to say the least!

Knelt, stayed there groaning.

“No, no!” the former cripple cried.

“Arise, stop that moaning!”

.

.

“Remember Sahibs God?  He healed me!”

Returned to village, all saw and heard,

Villagers then turned to God, everyone!

They seeing believed The Word!

.

.

What did Jesus say?

“Blessed are they who having not seen…believe!”

GOD’S MORALITY

What He says I know He will do.

Not just what I want Him to.

Demands I make to serve this shell,

Demands we make I know it well!

.

.

This shell, myself so impotent

Is not given to such discontent!

Following the ways of sin

Conforming to a voice within.

.

.

Yet not within that voice without

That voice without that harbors doubt.

The consummate of every wrong

A deviation from the song of triumph!

.

.

Yet, what I really want I know

Is what He wants for me below.

The dust and grime, His footstool, we

Still clamor for autocracy.

.

.

Face it, we are thankless lot!

Not content with what he have got!

Placing grim morality

Over God’s authority. (*)

.

.

But what I really want, surprise!

Is what God wants for me, I rise

To give Him thanks for what He has done

In giving us His blessed Son to die!

HEAVEN

God blessed me with a forgetter,

Stuff I can lay aside!

Names, now can any remember?

Sure, know that face, abide!

.

.

Abide the recognition!

Forever love that face!

Abide that lasting memory

Deliberate that Grace!

.

.

So gently the words spill out!

How that memory still lasts.

A bridge we crossed remembered still!

So many ages past!

.

.

Why should I remember words,

When thoughts pursued continue.

The thrill of recognition,

Do not think we need a menu.

.

.

That smile so sad!  I picture now

Thinking might have been.

Sure, it will be!  The future brings a

Tomorrow:  enter in!

.

.

Not just a dream over a wishing-well,

Not just a figment new.

A place we know existing real!

Where all those dreams are true!

PLANET HEAVEN

Not to worry about, what is to eat or to wear,

God, who created will supply!  And not meager fare!

Sure, the liberal soul shall have plenty made fat!

And “He that waters shall be watered,” at that!

(Proverbs 11:25, Psalms 37:25)

.

.

Know this!  Our God takes care of  H i s own!

Not saying that laziness can be prone,

To be assured fat of the land to share.

In heaven do not see no lazy folk there.

.

.

“Work for the night is coming,” when there is no more

Labor to be done on that Heavenly Shore!

Not saying, there will be no more to do,

Of  activity, like,  stooping to tie a shoe.

.

.

Sure activity prolonged but with eternity blessed!

But authority is God!  What I know must confess!

Have not seen it yet with no vision to share!

Will not need scrambled eggs or apples up there!

.

.

With glorified body, what is left here to say?

Glorified says it all!  Just enough to  t o d a y!

But tomorrow in Heaven, see I will know it all!

Of course, I can hear that ever nearer call!

.

.

Nearer but softer as closer I see,

My Savior transfigured, waiting for me!

I see His pierced hands, stretched way out for all!

Who would enter there, heeding His call?

.

.

Of course, I must wait as God would allow!

Encouraging others to humbly bow,

Praying for lost ones, I may win!

Bring them to Jesus from self and sin!

.

.

This I will do, with the help of God!
