AND YET HE LOVES ME

Jesus, the very thought of you eliminates all fear!

Fact that I can call Your name and I am drawn ever near!

.

.

Draw me much nearer now I pray.

Let me abide in You!

But now can this be possible?

Sure, there’s nothing You cannot do!

.

.

Came to us a tiny baby.  Grew-up with hammer and nails.

A carpenter in learning daily to fix and make a trail.

.

.

Only trail to Heaven and home,

Maker of stars and worlds!

One way to go and not alone!

Believing it all unfurls!

.

.

Believe accepting God as King!

And can this ever be?

Creator of everything that is!

Worlds and eternity!

.

.

Tiny snail, house on its back.

Limitless space  out there!

Never ending.  On forever!

With countless flowers so fair!

.

.

Yet You came baby Bethlehem!

Spurned, kicked, about healed all.

Raised a dead man!  Will raise many more!

All who ‘on Your name call’!

.

.

Planets, stars just try counting them,

Impossible numberless!

Endless continuing and time:  no end!

True:  speechless I confess!

.

.

And I call Him friend and I am living still!

Creator, lover of souls.

Maker of worlds, Maker my God!

Everything He controls!

.

.

Yes, He loves even me!  the Sam

A LIVE-IN SITUATION

Do I need Him?  Let me tell you

How I need Him every hour!

Every minute I am without Him

Life is meaningless and dour!

.

.

Every minute I am without Him

It is time forever lost!

When my life does not project Him

One lost soul could be the cost!

.

.

Are you driven?  Want to make up

For the time you have thrown away?

Not to panic!  He will not drive you!

It is His will for you to stay–

.

.

In the comfort of His Presence,

Weak or strong He says “Abide”!

Weary?  Fearful?  Invitation;

“Follow Me” with Him reside!

.

.

Often I have heard His invitation. (*)

Sorrowfully sometimes I have failed.

Failed to heed that invitation

Trudging, doubting, far off trailed.

.

.

Do not you see?  It is in abiding!

It is a live in thing each day!

Walk, not trudging, run, not stumbling

He will strengthen all the way!

.

.

If abiding in His presence

Strength each step He will supply.

“Running, you will not grow weary,” (**)

“Walking, faint not…” ever try?

.

.

I am running now, not fainting,

I am walking.  Try to see;

It is three hours past my bedtime

I am still plugging, doggedly.

.

.

No, not running, not much walking

I am still near eighty-five,

But I am doing what God’s directing

And He is keeping me alive!

ABIDE, STAY

Life may throw a curve ball or two

When you are just dawdling around,

But if your feet stay out of concrete

You may come through safe and sound!

.

.

A whole bunch of sordid accoutrement (*)

May accost you on your way,

But as you abide by Jesus’ side

You could see another day!

.

.

Just fasten your eyes on Jesus!

While keeping focused on Him

Controlling emotions is easier

Staying away from sin.

.

.

So calling it as I see it

Sin in simplicity

Is turning away from Jesus,

That is as true as it can be.

.

.

Do not fool around, Ole’ Satan still

Can put a strangle hold

On anyone who loses touch

And strolls from His control!

.

.

“Abide in Christ,” yes, stay with Him!

Do not ever leave His side!

Christ in you and you stay with Him

That is what it means to abide!

.

.

So as we dawdle and fool around

Just make sure that Christ is there

Ever abiding with Him within!

Living within His care!

ALL WHO COME

What kind of fool I am though I long

For much more of Christ within.

I cannot seem to capture the song

Of praise in cleansing from sin!

.

.

He does cleanse, I know, when I beg

His blood that flowed from Calvary!

It is available still!  I surely know

Available to me!

.

.

I am not presumptuous, I know his blood

Avails for all who come!

The thief on the cross cried not in vain

He plead for forgiveness!  It was done!

.

.

Opportunities lost?  He does forgive.

Presumptuous I am not!

He forgave my calloused faithfulness

Buried my sin!  Forgot!

.

.

“…in the sea of His forgetfulness…”

He buried them long ago!

Upon my acceptance of His grace

And I have nothing to show—

.

.

Except forgiveness!  How deep my debt!

How can I just go my way,

Forgetful of all He has done for me?

My gratitude says, stay!

.

.

Yes, stay, abide in His tender love.

Divine forgiveness I claim!

How can I ever forget such love?

To live to please Him is my aim!

COME HOLY SPIRIT

The Holy Spirit, Comforter, not recognized by some,

Who many say go overboard, but what of the one

Or five out of ten who definitely believe.

Not just believe in but consistently receive.

.

.

Rejected Holy Spirit, the teaching, leading one

Jesus said, “I leave now but The Comforter will come…”

The Comforter, third person of the Trinity, we know

Dissected then ignored unrecognizable below.

.

.

Yes, He has a distant function; do you know?  Have you seen?

The power revealed at Pentecost, big change it would seem!

Twelve cowards turned courageous, preaching, healing everywhere!

Then Paul came and the twelve were quite eager to share.

.

.

They all suffered violent deaths, Peter asked to be

Crucified upside down, a close identity

To His Savior who died but arose again to live

And send the Holy Spirit, new courage to give!

.

.

In Heaven we will see Him for we will be spirits, too.

Jesus, Holy Spirit, and God, yes, it is true!

The three are still One!  Yes, One God over all,

I listened, responded, yes, He hears all who call!

.

.

The Holy Spirit now sustains us as we go.

He is with us and He guides us.  That is all we need to know.

Along with God, the Father, and Jesus who died.

And God, the Holy Spirit, with whom we abide!

.

.

Not confusing, God the Father, and of course, God the Son,

And God the Holy Spirit, He is with us everyone!

.

.

NEVER ALONE

I love you, Lord, and I lift my voice

In praise to You. You were my last choice.

Sure, I tried the world, there were many things

That I loved and lost, like birds on the wing!

With flattering words and undulating forms

Hiding vanity, subtlety hidden thorns.

“Come and go with me!” They said and I went.

I awoke in time, they were not heaven-sent.

I remembered my vows, found a girl who cared.

Made a life with her that we gladly shared.

Through thick and thin, mostly it was thin,

But we always felt that through Christ we would win.

Everywhere we found hungry souls who came,

Not a lot, but we went in Jesus’ name!

He never left us, was near all the time,

Often times unfaithful but when I would align–

And return to His side, He would always receive

And renew me and bless! Oh yes! I believe!

How can I doubt when He walked by me side?

Sometimes through darkness but still as my guide.

I will never forsake Him, though dark clouds should hide

His face for a time. I know He will abide

By my side, by our side, my wife and I

And take us both to Heaven when we die!

Of course we were not worthy but depending on Him

Who “will never leave us” through brightness or dim.

Through sunshine or shadows whatever we go,

He will always be with us! His Word tells us so!

“I will never leave thee not forsake thee…”

THE KILL!

Delight in the Lord!  Good desires, He will fill!

Rejoice, be glad!  He is with you still!

.

.

“I will not leave you nor ever forsake!”

This is His promise to you, He will not break!

.

.

Continue, “Abide,” do not you dare give in!

His promise is sure!  He will keep you from sin!

.

.

“My Grace is sufficient!”  Did He not say?

“Pray without ceasing,” it is the only way!

.

.

Does He not love you, “Lover of my soul!”

Only abide, there in His control!

.

.

For He gave His life, He suffered and died!

For me and you!  He was crucified!

.

.

Cannot take this lightly!  Horrific death!

Eternal His suffering!  With every breath!

.

.

“Before the foundations…” it was His decree!

Truly He suffered!  On black Calvary!

.

.

Was He thinking of me when He suffered there?

Was He thinking of me, my burden to bear?

.

.

Every thought He had long before that hill!

To save you from Hell, He became the kill!

.

.

You need to know this!  Please rest in the thought!

Redeeming from Satan your Soul He bought!

.

.

With His life for you life, pain, torture He bore!

His Eternal suffering we suffer no more!

.

.

Believe it!  Accept!  It is His gift to you!

Then trust Him gladly to see you through!

.
