ABIDE II – JOHN 15:4

Abide means sit awhile and visit!

May commune with God, you know!

A longing He has for fellowship with His

Crowning creation, man’s soul!

Made us in His very own image!

Same image Jesus assumed!

God became man!  Could have had silver,

He made it!  And gold, for the doomed.

Men have stolen and killed for riches!

Of course, our God realized!

Love of money the root of all evil!

Without it we would starve and die!

Spend more time with the Savior of men!

Dependable as you will see!

He never failed me even though I strayed!

Someone was praying for me!

When mother prayed an Angel came down!

Protecting Spirit God gave!

Through countless dangers protected me!

Like I considered my slave!

Bullets careened meant for my head!

How can I not believe?

Powerful!  From the spirit world,

Physical, cannot conceive.

How God answers a mother’s prayers?

Power, the spirit protects!

Deflecting enemy lead from me,

Whenever those prayers connect!

“Abide in Me!”  Him and mother did!

How can our God not bless?

Prayers of a mother for her son,

God’s power I must profess!

And love Him as, “He first loved me.”

He has drawn love from me!

How can I but love that Man,

Who first loved, yes, Calvary!

“Believe…”  Belief what is accomplished.

Believe on the Lord and be saved.

Belief and eventually acceptance

And triumph over the grave!

RIGHT THE CHRISTMAS

I am dreaming of a right Christmas,

Where worship is involved,

Where thanks to God prevails truly!

For every problem solved!

You heard me right, every problem!

How can this ever be?

Simple gift package from our Lord!

Now and truly Christmassy!

Right attitude must prevail!

Humble, worshipful souls!

Start out by not requesting things!

Well known from pole to pole!

Start out by thanking God for Jesus!

Is this not right?  Christmassy?

Born in a stable, thinking of the poor,

Just like Christ in humility!

Just like the Christ in Humility!

Riches of Grace we may all

Humbly requested and humbly received

To be shared by all!

On call?  Assuredly as giving thanks extends

Others feel thankful, too!

So many poor!  So many in need,

The thankful know what to do!

I say, I am Christian, you say, give me proof!

I go to church, I identify,

Believe on the Lord Christ, sure, I am saved!

Not to earn the right but try–

To continue in Christ, of course, I must try!

Staying does involve attempt!

Takes time!  I have wasted enough of that!

Or does that make one exempt?

I see communion with God as a must!

Jesus said, “Abide in Me, as I abide

In the Father!”  Certainly He did need!

As human He must, He must decide–

And He decided to go all the way!

To pray way without ceasing!  Involved!

All the way!  With the cross as final!

So the sin problem was solved!

In part, the rest is up to you and me!

WATCH AND PRAY, JESUS’ VERY OWN WORDS

“That ye enter not into temptation.”

Temptation strong!  Devils a pro!

Bur fearing the Lord we can keep

With help of God, just say, “No!”

.

.

“Watch and pray,” that you do not give in

Primary!   Surely the best!

Temptation fails when we watch and pray!

Forgetting about the rest!

.

.

You can forget but the Christ does not!

“Abide in Me!”  Jesus cautioned us,

Sure, keep in mind the Adam and Eve!

Remembering we were once dust!

.

.

Abiding is this not the sure thing Jesus taught?

Study, read the Word, and pray!

Study always showing yourself approved

A workman inclined to stay!

.

.

“Watch and pray!”  Tempter then cannot

Find any place in which to hide!

See Him there claiming victory!

By Jesus’ blood-stained side!

.

.

Spear thrust while there on that cross!

His saving blood flowing down,

Submit to a bath in that cleansing flow,

Satan no longer around.

.

.

You just stay there, see Satanic loss,

He cannot do one thing!

But crow thinking he has won the fight

Wrong!  His demise to bring!

.

.

Calvary’s’ cross means Satanic loss!

Just how can this be?

Cross, Satan cannot touch any one of us!

The magic of Calvary!

.

.

No magic at all!  His death spells victory!

Died for all our sins!

Propitiation He claimed, cruel cross!

Our death like His own sin! (*)

.

.

(*) Only sinless One won!

SAVED BY GRACE

“Save thyself…and us!” Christ could not!

For this He had come to earth!

Saved too from Herod’s fearful edict,

First of all a humble birth!

.

.

A sinner saved leaves much unsaid!

Just insert, “Saved by grace!”

That changes all!  I look up and see

Agony, one bloody face!

.

.

Cannot overstate His suffering

Immensity of His pain!

The spike, hands and feet, hanging there

Can sanity remain?

.

.

A thief blurts out, “Save thyself and us!”

Raging within himself!

No pity from that crowd below!

They have long stayed on a shelf!

.

.

Convenient there those ugly sneers

As thief screamed obscenities.

“Of course, I stole! What else could I do?

Beg for food, like, ‘help me, please!’”

.

.

“I would rather die than that begging thing!

Go hungry long before.”

Did You not fast for 40 days?

Nor do rich folk keep score.

.

.

He had heard of this Christ many times!

Of course, he believed,

But his desires ranged elsewhere.

Not begging, instead deceived!

.

.

“Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and be saved.”

Is this not what you say?

Much more than mere credulity

Acceptance long delayed!

.

.

Follow the way of the Heaven-sent

“Leave all! Come and follow Me!”

“Take up your cross!” “Abide in Me!”

Is that all I see?

.

.

No, learn to love as Jesus loves!

Be what He wants you to be!

For whom the Son of God makes free

Shall be free indeed!

.

.

The free indeed S.H.C., that’s me! 11.18.10
