Contesting, as I am, for this life I see
The pages of a life bid for eternity.
There will be no sorrow there to this I am sure.
I do not have to wonder everything is secure!
It is true no death there or tragedy ever!
There is no hurt, no tears, no pain, no never!
Forever free from hurt! Can you conceive it?
Reality I know, of course, I believe it!
Death is no answer but immortality
Is settled along with God’s eternity!
We will never hear ‘die’ for the Lord above
Fashioned us for life in everlasting love!
A tear fell from my eye when I thought that He
Would so love, He did it; created even me!
Is it possible that love, His love so divine,
Could reach even to this corrupt heart of mine?
And then can it be that I should ever gain
An interest in my Savior’s love? There remain?
Remain within this heart that caused Him such pain?
His death on that cross, His sorrow and His shame!
Did ever love or such suffering contend
To meet this needy child, this sad heart to mend?
Only One, the Savior! Yes, He died for me!
Sure, He died, of course, He lives to set me free!
