Did Jesus ever wonder during His early life

About His short future as The Christ?

And then when He yawned and stretched sun on His back

Did He consider, just once, the price—

He would pay as His shadow formed a cross?

Did He wonder, a prophetic sign?

Of a sacrifice He was destined to make

Never committed any crime?

Only criminals feared that cross punishment

Then to Caesar, could it be?

That in their thinking He, Christ,

Desired to rule over the Country?

His preaching was way beyond this world of ours!

In heaven none can desire,

Without eyes, plain touched by God,

The cleansing by Holy Fire!

Pure this Jesus, no inclination to sin,

Never crossed His mind!

Even when tempted 40 days and nights!

None ever like His kind!

Sure, God became man and Satan tried

His best to cause the fall.

For 40 days and nights the tempter was

On His case but none at all—

Could move The Christ more than conqueror!

Perfect the Son of Man!

Forty days and nights with fasting

No rest, only God can!

Tempted and tried so often, consider,

Do we wonder; Does God care?

He cares and forgives! Trust! He will bring you home!

Even if He carries you there!

And that is why this is called Good Friday!

His sacrifice complete!

We can acknowledge make it all right!

Devil suffers defeat!

Just how could God watch His Son suffer?

Not easy but vigil kept!

Watched as they crucified Him,

And I am sure that God wept!

Despite the knowing, His Son would rise,

Resurrection, so true!

Horrific anger, anguish, but why?

The torture so terrible, too!

It is just a job, soldiers exclaimed,

Then gambled for His robe.

“My God, My God! Why?”

Turned His back as the soldiers strove!
