We have nothing to fear from the Kingsnake!

Rattlesnakes worst enemy!

Fact is I fear no snake at all!

Permit them territory!

On a time, one made me its habitat!

Coiled self around my arm!

Instinctively knew its sorrowful plight!

Knew it could do me no harm!

A roadside berm was its waterloo!

Its slippery, sandy, sloop,

Had wandered down from its grassy lair!

No way to climb, just grope!

Grope and slide until it found my arm,

Pressure there I glanced down,

I could sense then its pitiful plight!

A smile replaced my frown!

Felt its gaze, like, “Pity poor me!”

Requesting a helping hand!

Showed a friend nearby who yelped in fear!

Carried it up to grassland.

I felt then, like, world conqueror,

As it slowly slithered away!

Turned its head once, like, saying thank you!

“You are welcome!”  All I could say.

Once we have conquered our fears, it is like,

The world lies beneath our feet.

For the world is then subservient!

To Him who rules replete.

Yet, another meaning is to be found,

The world of flesh overcome,

Overcome the world within ourselves!

This needed for saints, each one!

The world, the flesh, the Devil, we see

Put down beneath our feet!

This is the world that confronts God’s child!

We look away from to defeat!

Look away from, look to Christ on the cross!

The crucified Christ died but lives!

To lift each Son of man from the death,

His Salvation He gives!
