TEN FEET TALL

Remembering his first name from 50 years ago,

One imposing figure and special, did he know?

.

.

Owned a farm, Iowa farmland, years ago very best!

Aware of his importance?  Did not show like the rest!

.

.

Common folk, but uncommon, one could see at a glance,

Simple folk and friendly!  Covetous?  Not a chance!

.

.

Ardith, lovely daughter of one local farm owner,

Joined my church one Sunday, just a simple charmer!

.

.

Tragic accident involving  the graduating class,

In Heaven now forgotten the old life passed.

.

.

Is awareness in Heaven limited to that fair land?

I think not!  Sense their prayers they see us in God’s hand!

.

.

Contending not!  But claiming remaining Souls to rest,

Purposefully in Jesus asserting for very best!

.

.

Then this poor sinner wept for Margot when she died,

I had led her to Jesus, precious memory, I cried!

.

.

See her now in Heaven!  Of this I am quite sure!

Her posture in Jesus, I believe and secure!

.

.

Back to Darwin, years before all these other mentioned friends,

How can I forget this?  His words still contend!

.

.

I preached large Brethren Church, Methodist was I,

Just prior to their merger, how to vote, hear them sigh!

.

.

After service Darwin hastened to inform, after all,

Pridefully, “Sam tonight you were ten feet tall!”

.

.

Time later, he accepted an important city post,

Of course, now I remember his praise and I boast!

.

.

Soon all boasting ended as I gaze on Jesus’ face!

I weep; kiss the nail prints on His feet!  Saved by Grace!

.
