KNEEL AT THE CROSS

Pain?  Of course!  The Christ on the cross.

They laughed as He writhed up there!

John swallows hard gritting his teeth!

Some hate, most did not care!

.

.

They went along with the crowd.

Did you enjoy the show?

Spectacle most could not careless!

Enjoy that?  Heavens no!

.

.

“God, why have you forsaken me?”

A cry!  A sob!  Who cares?

Soldiers had ridiculed with a crown.

Crown of thorns on His head!

.

.

Thorns drew fresh blood already soaking

His face down to His chest.

Tormentors have you no knowledge

Of His love for you?  Contest.

.

.

“Father, forgive them.  They know not,

They know not what they do.”

Oh, they knew alright!  Or did they?

His words were surely true!

.

.

Thoughtless, uncaring, they were just doing

What the crowd does, always right.

Majority rules, follow the crowd.

Even when not too bright!

.

.

The not-saved crowd, hell-bound for sure!

And the crowd yelled,  “Crucify!”

Sure, the crowd laughed and jeered, what else?

They scoffed and watched Him die!

.

.

One heathen, a Roman soldier,

Listens closely, hears and soon,

“Into Thy hands I commend My Spirit.”

Earthquake followed, darkest gloom!

.

.

The soldier, a Centurion, saw and heard

While the thoughtless ridiculed.

Said, “Surely this was the Son of God!”

Many with him unschooled.

.

.

Weighing all the facts were convinced,

“This is The Son of God indeed!”

Centuries later this Romans thought grew!

And brought forth seed!
